Why is there not a viewer type function within FCP? A way to select the clips, view, and re-name them before importing them seems like a no-brainer. Am I missing something?

As to missing something, I don't know of any NLE that does this for p2 imports.
But I might be missing something.
Is there one?
Dan Montgomery said:I think you guys are missing the point a bit, viewing is a minor part of media management. You need a way to not only see, select, edit metadata and output to the editor--but also a way to index and archive the 1000s of clips you'll be creating over the next few years.
Isn't being able to find all your clips, now and in the future, worth the price of one 4 GB card?
Dan Montgomery said:So what you're saying is, Apple should make a P2 specific editor. While they're at it, why don't you ask Panasonic to bundle that for free too? After all, why should anyone be compensated for their product development except the camera manufacturer?
Sorry, but if Panasonic had any influence over Apple they'd never let them drop the PCMCIA slots. duh.

But fact remains that Panny gave Windows users a free app and expects us Mac users to cough up an extra $500 for the same thing. Very disappointing.
