I'm taking my new HVX out for an important shoot next week. I've got 2 16gig P2 cards and I will be shooting in 25pN to get 40 minutes of footage on each card. I expect to shoot about 5 to 7 hours of footage. I haven't shot without tape before this so I'd appreciate some info on a few things.
For the most part, I probably will have time to turn the camera into host mode and transfer to an external Firewire Hard Disk when the cards are full. I will also be taking a Windows laptop with a PCMCIA slot in case I need to be hot swapping. (Unfortunately, I won't know if I'll have to shoot continuously for more than 80mins until I actually get there next week)
Now, I'm trying to figure out the best possible file system to format the Hard Disk with. Something that can be read by the camera for Host Mode, the Windows Laptop for offloading if needed and the Mac at the edit table. What is the file system that is used commonly for transferring clips and editing? Would allowing the camera to format the Hard Disk put me in the safe zone?
