file spanning?

hi there, sorry if i a bit of a newb and this has been answered before, in the middle of a festival and using a gh13 with high reliability settings with a 14-140, what ptool settings will be best for file spanning?

thanks
reuben

I am using one of the native 24p patches (I will have to check which one as I cannot remember right now) and I am able to span perfectly when shooting 24p. I'm not sure if something has been optimized or not but I shot 51 minutes as a test and it spanned two files perfectly. CS5.5 even imports it as a single file which works perfectly.

update:

I am running the Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch and was shooting on a 8 GB Sandisk class 6 card.

righto, will give it a try tonight, thanks for the quick reply!!!! i am shooting on a transcend 16gb class 10, lost another 10 mins today getting my friend to film, whoops :)

On the GH1, AVCHD file spanning across multiple 4GB MTS files is a rather fragile mechanism that doesn't appear to work reliably at bitrates over 28Mbps. If you check out the patches linked in my signature, I've set the 720p "H" mode to the highest bitrate that worked with file spanning for each patch. Unfortunately, there is no comparable way to select a lower bitrate 1080p patch on the GH1.

ok then, thanks for the heads up, i recorded my show in 720p h mode the other day but because i was using a long shot in edinburgh (lots of crowed and cobbles and churches) it just didn't look that good, but i will try it again. Thanks for the great work!!!!!

Now that you mention it I'm sure the reason why it actually did work is because the actual bitrate was fairly low. It had to be to fit 51 minutes on a 8GB card. I also have a Pany HMC-40 and never get that much video on the same 8 GB card so it must have used a bitrate slightly lower then that.
