GH3 Feature film grabs.

Hey folks.
Just wanted to share some grabs from the first project I've DPed on the GH3.
A microbudget feature we shot incredibly fast with a tiny crew at the beginning of June.

I used the 50Mbps mode and Lomo lenses, mostly a 50mm, which I stopped down to between 5.6 and 8 because our locations were so important to the story.

Compared to my GH2, I really loved the battery life and how the HDMI image doesn't do anything funky when you hit record.
The display info always disappearing was frustrating though.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking!

I see you're at it again Ryan. As usual this looks great.

Man...the detail in that camera is amazing.

Looking good, did you run it through filmconvert?
Nice angles, would love to see a trailer soon - keep us posted!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Really appreciate it!

Any complaints or wishes about the GH3?

I wish the the display info didn't disappear.
And the hot shoe seems weird, my accessories wouldn't fit tightly without a bit of camera tape.
Also, I did see some moire on the actress' stockings in medium shots.

What were your settings?

Standard: NR and Sharpness -5, Contrast -3, Saturation -2.

No filmconvert, I graded these in Photoshop.

When the director has a trailer ready, I'll make sure to post it.

Thanks again!

Excellent stills man. I see texture. What grain footage did you use? Its so nice and detailed and cinematic.

Thanks Sharry. The grain in these is just the noise filter from Photoshop.

Thanks again to everyone that has taken a look!

Great looking stills....
Interested in knowing what will be used to grade the movie to match the stills.
J.

Not sure what will be used for the final grade. I played with a few shots in FilmConvert and it looked pretty cool. But to match these stills I'd probably just use the 3-way in FCP as I didn't do much to the shots; just tightened the contrast a litte, a touch of saturation and fine tuned the white balance in a few.

I applaud your use of deeper DoF than what seems to be the current vogue. All of the shots looked in focus, and quite 'natural' from my view.

Thanks j1clark, glad you like it. Yeah, I like the effect of using a bit of a longer lens and stopping down a bit, nice backgrounds. I think it worked for this film anyway.
