FCP quitting every time i import P2 files

Hello everyone,

Every time i try to import p2 footage to my final cut pro studio FCP just quits on me.

P2 card to powerbook then i download P2 footage to external HD (contents and text), then i launch FCP, set new bin and make it logging bin-all with same name, when i hit import Panasonic P2 FCP just quits on me, i tried it a few different ways and FCP just Keeps quitting on me,could it be my FCP setting or maybe even my powerbook settings, any suggestions?

have you tried deleting the FCP prefs in the library folder? it solves some random probs for me in the past
 
Reinstall FCP completely. Did you do any updates lately? If so, don't do the last one again. If not try to find an update and see if it makes things better. And what mac are you on. Our G4 is a lot more glitchy then our G5, but the G5 was properly configured without to much mess and fragmentation to begin with...
 
1) bought a reurbished powerbook G4 from Apple w/ the following specs Mac osx 10.4.6/1.67 GHZ/1.5 GB DDR2/Quicktime version 7.0.4/Final Cut Studio NFR .

I did have a problem when i was downloading FCP the laptop wasent giving me the user privilige to save it to the disk, i went to Apple and they reinstalled my OSX so that took care of that.

Now FCP only quits on me when i try to import P2 footage, the 1 clip that i keep trying to import is set on 720p 60i.

When Final cut is open click on final cut at the top left of screen, at the drop down menu click the about final cut item and tell us the version number.
 
Try creating a new project, then import. I had the same problem and this solution worked for me.
 
Also update your FCP 5.1 to 5.1.1 and your QuickTime to 7.1.2. Update to 10.4.7 using the combo updater, not the software update.

didn't work, but thanks anyway i'm starting to think it has something to do with my laptop, i bought it refurbished from apple and it's had a few little glitches here and there even when i was downloading FCP it was giving me privilige problems.
