FCP EOS plug in only converts 4444?

Hi there. I know I am a little late in this but I finally downloaded the Canon plug in for FCP for Log and Transcoding 7D footage. But when in Log and Transcode preferences it only gives me the option to convert the footage as Apple Pro Res 4444. I have always converted to 4222 LT or HQ. I am wondering why it doesn't give me the 4222 option and also would converting to 4444 be better. The footage I will be working with is for an independent film.

Any advice is appreciated :) Thank you in advance.

It will encode it to whatever setting you want. I have it encoding to ProRes LT.

There's a thread around that you might want to Google about the problems with this plugin. The highlight of it is that this plugin does not always capture all of the clip and there's no indication that there is a problem so to be sure you have to check each clip against the original.

I don't know if that's been fixed, I don't think it has I have not found an update to this plugin yet. For now I have gone back to using MPEG StraemClip, doesn't have some of the nifty naming options but it works and if it does have a problem with a clip it tells you about it.

Just something to keep in mind.

Thank you! I think I did see some things around about problems with this plugin. I figured though since I am about a half a year or so late in downloading it that those were older issues. Thanks for warning me that it might be unresolved. I will go back to the old way of using compressor. Is MPEG Streamclip faster than using Compressor or are they both relatively equal would you say?

Its more up to how you you like your workflow. I think the quality is better with MPRG StreamClip and you can choose the number of cores you want to use and it is quite a bit faster. However, you can set up a cluster or Qmaster with available cores with Compressor which will also significantly speed it up, but it can be a little complicated and temperamental.

With MPEG StreaClip you just choose the number of cores you want to use and it will parse the files out accordingly. I generally assign half my cores to MPEG SC it goes off and does what it does in the background while I continue to work on other things.

It works great, best of all its free...
