Fall Grabs

Lucky Duck
Fall is in the air in Washington and I was out shooting today. Here are two deep focus shots using the teleconverter 1.6x.

EDIT: I added another one that I shot today...the third one down....same setup. I just like the colors in this one.

I also shot a sunset timelapse. Nothing spectacular with the timelapse, just fun to do:

Re: Fall Grabs

Not bad, but can ya groove it like this /me sashays his hips from side to side

Re: Fall Grabs

I don't like looking at Disjecta's work because it makes me want to move out of the city.

EDIT: Forgot to mention how gorgeous these look. Very good. :)

Re: Fall Grabs

No **** – I’ve had to get in the habit of saving his work right to my hard drive first time off otherwise he would get a huge bill for bandwidth. Watch them over and over and over…

Something about the colors he uses that just floors me.

For sure - Please … Every detail :) Lens, filter, settings .... where you put your hands… ;D No holding out dude ...

Re: Fall Grabs

rburns....here are the settings I used...

I have the Matrix set to NORM and gamma is set to Cine-Like (not D or V) This gives me virtually no video noise even in low light situations. Detail is set at +2 and V Detail and Detail Coring are left at 0. Pedestal is set to -6, chroma is set to +5 (to compensate for not using the cine matrix).

For these shots I white-balanced on the warm side. It was an overcast day. I used the Century Optics 1.6x teleconverter, was positioned a good bit back from my subject and then zoomed in all the way. I forced the camera to use the 1/64 ND filter which gave me a completely open iris for the deep focus effect but also ended up underexposing the shot which also gave me the color saturation I was after.

The camera was resting on a steadybag and very low to the ground.

Original footage was in letterbox mode (what I am shooting exclusively now) and uprezzed in Photozoom Pro to 16x9 anamorphic.

I shoot in thin mode also....not sure what else to tell you, I think that covers it.

Oh yeah, I don't use any filters on the camera.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Re: Fall Grabs

I left the timelapse running in real time for about 30 minutes and sped it up in post for a final duration of 20 seconds. It's too early to do the math  :)

Re: Fall Grabs

Those shots are not Deep Focus..

Deep Focus implies that everything, including the background is in focus.

but you may be referring to something else I dunno... I am just recalling much of the terminology from the many film classes I have taken..

Awesome picts by the way.. simply gorgeous

Re: Fall Grabs

Very nice! Beautiful DOF! One question, how much more DOF does the teleconverter give you?

Re: Fall Grabs

excellent! theres somthing about the colors of the leaf in that leaf shot, that just make me curiously attracted.

Re: Fall Grabs

Why is so much noice in all the DVX grabs? Is it something with the cinema gamma settings?

Re: Fall Grabs

Very nice shots.

I like very much the first shot. The mix of red tonality and green tonality is really wonderful.

Re: Fall Grabs

Thanks guys....

Interesting.... Well, shallow focus then, how's that? :D

The teleconverter gives a significant "shallow" depth of field when zoomed in. Much more than the fixed lens and can give very pleasing results when combined with ND settings, etc.

The "noise" you are seeing Jestorious, is not prevalent when running the footage on a TV screen. It may be JPEG compression but what you see as noise, I see as adding an organic quality to the picture, very much like film. Pristine pictures don't appeal to me.

Re: Fall Grabs

disjecta,

Were the grabs you posted before or after the Photozoom process? Also, does the Century 1.6X give you full zoom?
