F700 And Copter Kids

The clip was shot with the $200+ Sony 18-55 only because any other lens sticks to far out on the heli and by the way this isn't my video. It was posted today on Vimeo by Trent Palmer.

Do they have some sort of remote start/stop? I would assume they weren't launching the heli within the 8 sec burst time limit for the 240 fps..

The fellow with Trent is controlling the camera via a computer. You can see their set up at 0:29 in the video and the computer on a tripod. Trent is only flying the copter.

WOW!! The most amazing sequences display a seamless transition from standard motion to slo-mo. Since I can't figure out how to do this with the buttons on my FS700, I assume it must be controlled via their computer?
And how do they get a computer interface, thru USB port or the remote jack?

See my post right before yours. You can see the fellow controlling the FS700 via computer at 0:29. Trent is just flying (which with an RC copter takes every second of concentration...and especially with close to $9000 worth of equipment riding on it.)

Transition from normal to slow is usually done in editing.

yep, thought of that. if you look at the sequences, shot from the air during an aerial jump. There's NO WAY this could have been done in 2 takes or two cams. It is a continuous stream, no hiccups or blends or transitions.

That was really amazing. Damn.... it looked so good. When used right, slow motion just adds so much drama. This shows that the FS700 can truly do things that other cameras in it's price range cannot even come close.

Now this is just STUPID...in a totally great way. Excellent use of high-speed shooting. Makes me want to forget about shooting anything with mine now.

That's some great footage, aside from the cool subject matter the conditions were harsh and handled well, banding fairly controlled and highlights looked good. Guy might be a fantastic biker but can't drink beer to save his life :)

The shot with him drinking, or not drinking, looked great from a dynamic range point.

cheers
