External Recorder for editing in Adobe Premiere

I'm looking for an external recorder for use with the AF100 and the footage will be edited on Adobe Premiere. It seems almost everything out there is either ProRes or DNxHD... Can I get either of those into Premiere?

You can get both into Premiere Pro.

Sorry. I was un aware of the issue with the mxf wrapper.

I do use both files types in PPRO as an intermediate to and from other facilities.

BTW: I am also in the wait and see mode to see what develops for external recording devices.

Seems like the only option is the HPG20 and recording into AVCIntra 100. Anyone know of any way to mount the HPG20 to a rail system? Need some kind of mounting bracket with 15mm rod support.

berkeysystems.com has a nice mounting block. just ordered 2.

Just out of curiosity, how do they connect to the HPG20? I can't find anything specifically on their website referring to the HPG20 and any of the "blocks" I look at, I can't even think of how they would connect to the unit. I've never really need to rig anything up like this before, so I have no idea what the HPG20 has as far as mounting points, or if the only mounting points on HPG20 are on the side...

I was also looking at the Zacuto Zwiss Plate.

Ahh.. sorry, I wasn't being specific to that recorder. I was referring to 15mm blocks with 1/4-20 holes for attachments. I would say there are better choices than the HPG20 for external recording. (Pix220, Nano, even the Blackmagic SSD thing). Ahhh again, I see your OP says for PPro, not DNx or Prores. Well, how about Cineform's codec? Shoot whatever & transcode.

Can I transcode? I was under the impression it's impossible to even the footage into Premiere to do anything with it, including transcoding.

Then, I'd of course use the Nano, if I could transcode.

EDIT: It looks like the Nano records to XDCAM HD 4:2:2.... Can't Premiere use that natively, or no?

Why use Premiere at all if you want to go the transcode route?

Do a test with some Prores footage from a Nano (or the other devices).

Premiere Pro does have Sequence presets for XDCAM. I have no experience of editing it though.

Dear Friends,

Our nanoFlash can record in either Quicktime ".MOV" or ".MXF".

The ".MXF" wrapper is usually used for Adobe Premiere Pro.

If you are using CS3, or CS4, we have a special offer for you to obtain the MainConcept Codec.

If you are using the latest versions of CS5, our footage works natively.
