New Domain for my SD as SxS and other pages

I am not sure it is propagating yet, hopefully it is getting out there and works (I can only test 'internally') so please let me know if it works

Main page
http://www.xdcamexinfo.com

The existing summary page is currently duplicated here
http://www.xdcamexinfo.com/sdassxs/

I'd appreciate knowing if it is coming through to the rest of the world. I will keep the old glasseye.com.au URL active as well as there are too many other sites that link to it but once I know the above is working ok it will probably become a redirection page to the above which can stay there much longer and not just look like it is hanging off my business's web site.

I can also add other things to the main page index over time as well.

What do you think?

Cool, thanks, that was such a quick and automated thing to do now. Last time I registered a domain it took much longer to process and propagate.

Hi Guy,

Congrats on site. Just a small note, our cards are not "modified Generic Chinese" cards, they were built to our exact specifications. It's just cheaper to build them in China, although I can see how there might be some confusion.

Hi Ross,

If you want to supply me with some more accurate information about their design etc I'd be happy to completely update the page with your info. I"m sure people would be interested. I get daily requests from people all over the work on how to get adaptors.

Hi Guy,

You probably won't remember, but I rang you a couple of months ago concerning the Kensington adapters.

I was trying to get hold of a couple, so I could start leaving my laptop at home. But they were always in such short demand. We shoot a lot of weddings and were getting more and more frustrated that we couldn't solve the problem of dragging around a laptop. We figured if we were having this problem of getting hold of Kensington cards, then so must a lot of other people.

So we decided to scour the market for cards, and find a manufacturer who could produce what we wanted. One of our design considerations was that the SDHC card must sit flush inside the adapter, to allow the EX1 door to close. The Kensington, solved the problem of recording to SDHC, but created a new problem of not being able to close the door. For me that was only useful for tripod shooting, as I man-handle the camera throughout a shoot, and the door would end up being dislodged, or even broken off.

So we designed the card from our perspective of corporate and wedding shooters, for people just like us. We also tried to think how our Indie film brethren might benefit from it. In other words it wasn't going to be a compromise card designed by computer people for use only in a computer.

The culmination of all of our effort was the release on 19 December 2008 of our new product, MxR, designed in Australia, engineered in Taiwan and assembled in China.

If you visit our site at

http://www.e-films.com.au

you'll be able to see the specifications for the card, and a video of us showing a pre-production version of the card in action. When we shot the video we didn't have the completed artwork, but since then every card has gone out with our new branding.

Memo to self, time to update that video, with one that took more than 1 hour to shoot and edit.

I don't know how often you get to Sydney, but we always have cold Crown Lager in the Fridge.

I've been getting quite a number of emails and calls over the last few months so please forgive me if I don't specifically remember your call. There have been next to nothing in Kensington's here which is why I still try to get some in for people as certainly there still is demand. Most people tell me it is the extensive use of them and my details on my site which makes them still want them. At the moment there are many still holding back on yours until others prove them in the field like the Kensington's have been proven.

Personally I don't think the card stick out enough from the Kensington to be a concern, it is flush with the edge of the door so it is really flush with the side of the camera. Its just a nice to have situation of closing the door. It would also be good for harsher environments and in even when it is 'spitting' so no rain drops could blow in. Those Chineese adaptors are something different again though, what you think about the Kensington's I think about those generic ones.

All these sites are quite protective of their content so if you could simply email something like the above with a few product images giving me permission to reproduce them on my site I'd be happy to put more info up. All the other images are ones I have taken myself of my own adaptors.

I've got a major basketball teams shoot coming up (one not being televised though) on 11 Jan (in Melbourne) with 4 EX cameras (mix of 1'2 and 3's) where I could probably convince the primary to use only your adaptors if you wanted a bit of PR for them. At the moment we are going to use a mix of Kensington's, Delkin's and SxS. We'd need at least 2 per camera though. Let me know if you are interested (guy@glasseye.com.au).

I haven't been to Sydney for a while, but you might be interested to know the AVPA has just started up a NSW branch again. Its a great way to network with other producers and as a special event producer it is probably going to interest you the most as well (most all others up there are special events at the moment).

Hi Guy,

Actually I am a Past President of AVPA, NSW. I stepped down several years ago, as it was a pretty sad state of affairs when I asked if anyone had any topics that they would like to cover, and everyone sat there in stunned silence. I just ran out of energy coming up with ideas for meetings, arranging speakers, venues, then chairing the meeting as well. I felt a little burned by the whole thing, so was pleased to find someone else willing to start the meetings, not on a monthly basis, but on a quarterly, and change the emphasis to networking , and away from technical demonstrations.

Can you tell me some more about the Basketball Competition you are shooting, sounds interesting.

The new NSW 'chapter' of AVPA has only started up again recently, they are trying regular meetings but it is also quite casual as well. There are large numbers of producers in NSW so it has great potential. What has really helped the AVPA members is a private email based forum, this has brought together the interstaters (outside of VIC) to feel much more part of the associasion as a whole. Meetings won't start up again until Feb (at the earliest for NSW).

I edited the newsletter for the last 2 years and was Vice President for the last year, just stepping down from those roles this year. I still manage the email forum though (it runs off my server).

On the basket ball, it is being shot by another AVPA member (I am freelancing) and is for one of the major Melbourne basketball teams. When the games arn't being broadcast on TV he steps in and shoots the game for the team. In this game he is interested in producing a full HD multicamera shoot of the game using all EX's (4 of them) as a showcase and sample back to the club (not sure which club exactly to be honest, I can find out though). I'll have to confirm, but I believe it is the NBL which makes the only game in Melbourne on the 11th Jan the Tigers vs the Wildcats http://www.nbl.com.au/default.aspx?s=schedule&selectednblround=178 (at the State Netball & Hockey Centre http://www.snhc.com.au/facilities.html). Given the Wildcats are a WA team, it is pretty likely the team we are coverting are the Tigers.
