Exposure Compensation

Histogram reading is an art and science all by itself. What it does is tell you how many pixels are at different levels of brightness. Depending on the scene the "right" histogram will be different. All I can say is understand how lighting in a scene works and how to roughly differentiate by eye the various levels of light.

Thanks everyone. I understand better. What about face detection focus exposure versus the fiels (I think 27) focus exposure. I'm shooting in 1080 and was concerned when 2 people in scene it moves focus back and forth automatically. One face has yellow square and the other white, and they exchange during scene. To be safe I set to the fields focus but then u don't get the wow shots it seems like when the face is properly exposed/focused.

Should I use face focus eventhough the white and yellow triangles exchange. How do I force a white triange, assuming white means in primary focus.

Am I getting this wrong?
