Error with the DVCPROHD FRC

For some reason every clip that I've shot overcranked (i.e. 48fps) in the 720p Non-native mode keeps giving me an error when I try to use the DVCPROHD Frame Rate Converter on the clip once I've got it into my browser bin. When I select the clip in the browser and then go to TOOLS_DVCPROHD FRC it gives me an error that reads,"No Video file found in selected clip. Only a browser clip with video can be processed by this tool." To me it makes no sense since, I can play the clip fine in the Viewer or the Sequence and the clip I'm selecting to use with the DVCPROHD FRC is in the browser. Can anyone help or has anyone else had this happen and knows the reason why?

When you imported the file into FCP, did you turn OFF the remove duplicate frames option? You need to keep all of the frames and let the FRC remove the duplicates for under/overcranked footage.

1- Make sure you copied the FRC from the install disk, not from Panasonic's site. I have had so many students and clients get bad functioning copies of FRC from Panny's site, and reinstalling from the FCS install DVD fixes the problem.

2- Do what Ned says.

3- Download my freebie (in my signature) for the FS100, it simply shows the P2 import function and VFR stuff.

Good additional points, Ben. And would you please tell my wife "Do What Ned Says..."

Minor rant here-- in FCP 5.1.2 and greater with Apple's improved P2 import window, Apple took a step backwards by hiding the remove duplicate frames check box under Options. I much preferred the older UI which had the checkbox clearly visible at the bottom of the window.

Dear Ned's Wife,

I think Ned is a nice guy, most of the time. He's really smart, usually. He is very sensitive, sort of, and is just nice, mostly. Please do as he says.

Sincerely,
Some Guy Neither Of You Don't Actually Know

You might reference where it is now currently.
Um, like he said, it's hidden. If we told you where it was, it wouldn't be hidden, now would it? And Ned would be a liar, now wouldn't he? And his wife would never do what he says, now isn't that right?

It's hidden, leave it alone, "they" are listening!
