Error when trying to import to FCP

So here's the deal. I just got an HVX this week, and I'm trying to upload some test footage into FCP from my harddrive and I'm getting an error each time. I'm using 16gig cards, though I've already checked the firmware on my cam and it's up to date, and I've also installed the latest drivers. I tried first importing the files through my pc laptop onto an external hard drive using P2CMS, and got this error: "One or more P2 clips failed to import: probable incomplete or corrupt clips." I then tried to upload the footage again directly from the HVX to my external hard drive, and I'm now getting the same error as before. The weird part is that I tried importing some older HVX footage that I had on another drive, and I got the same error. Is there some setting I'm missing, or some driver that I could need? Or are my files really corrupt, and I've lost not only my test footage, but my other footage I had from before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I'm running FCP on a G5, if that helps.

When you say "upload" could you be specific? Copy from a mounted p2 volume to the HDD?

Or log and transfer into FCP? Also what version of FCP?

Are you attempting a Firewire Connect to the G5?

Have you write protected the cards before trying to mount to them?

It would assist with some specifics including what OS and what version of QT.

Sorry, I thought I made it clear what I meant when I said "upload". I tried to transfer the files to a HDD two ways. One way was directly from the camera to the HDD (no computer in between, just direct FW connection), and the other way was by using my laptop PCMCIA slot for the P2 cards. I am not trying to transfer the files from the p2 cards using FCP, nor have I tried transfering them to the HDD using my mac at all. I used a pc laptop when I did use a computer to transfer the cards to the HDD. I have write protected the cards.

My G5 is running OS x ver. 10.4.11. It's a dual 2.3 powerPC if that helps. I have QT ver. 7.3.

If it wasn't clear in my original post, my issue is that I'm getting an error message when trying to import the p2 footage into FCP from my HDD.

You MUST have at least 5.0.4 to work with any HD clips from an HVX.

Ok, I'll check that out. I'm usually very good about updating my software on my mac. Thanks a bunch Barry! By the way your book is fantastic so far. I've only had it for about 3 days though, so I haven't gotten to read the whole thing yet.

Well, I checked for updates, and my mac is all up to date, and isn't finding any new software updates at the moment. Is anyone aware of a way I can manually download the update for FCP?
