this is the error message I received while i was trying to format my new HDD.

This is my first time transfering P2 to HDD. i bought the correct cables and hooked it all up.

Also, after I went into 1394 host mode, the only menu option I had was to turn Verify on or off. All other menu options, including format HDD, were not available

Camera into HDD using Fire Wire cable.

I just dont get it. And i need to off load my cards so i can continue filming.

I just ran through the section on HVX Bootcamp for offloading to HDD. Im doing everything exactly right; connecting camera and HDD through fire wire, setting camera to 1394 host, etc. But when the menu comes up, all options are unavailabe, including the option to format HDD. The only option that is available is the "Verify" option.

And then I receive the Warning Message: Too Many Targets. Turn Power off.

I looked up this warning the panasonic manual. It defines the warning as: There are too many 1394 connection destinations

Im using a Western Digital 320 GBHDD

Im pretty much screwed if i cant start offloading my P2 cards soon.

Hello Chris,

Are there any dip switches on your HDD that enables you to toggle any "Multi-Drive" features or anything similar?

Best regards,

Andrew Hoffman

hi,

i am exactly getting the same error. I i could not find any other information in web. The only differences from Chris is i have western digital my book 1TB version.
I am wondering if the size of the HDD is the problem? Should i buy the smaller one (although Chris has smaller -320 GB- version.)

So anybody can help????
