FEATURE: Epitaph: Bread and Salt Feature film

It was a feature, but we did all the effects in Final Cut. (Also keep in mind I was editing DV on my G4). In my first film we did effects in AE then exported out as QT files. But in "Wages" we did all the keying, motion graphics and other effects right in FCP, so it took quite some time. With this film it's back to AE and FCP. So I'll do effects in AE then drop the footage back into FCP.

Both Wulf and Leap, which were DV, took about 12-14 hours to render. To give you an idea for HD, I'm rendering out that 40 minute sequence from After Effects and it's looking to be a 40 hour render!

Okay, that makes sense. I was about to say. 10 hours for a 5 minute short wouldn't be worth it. LOL!! I can't imagine how long the render's gonna' be for mine when I get it done.

I'm rendering right from FCP but I may use the Animation setting. I also have to figure out who to go to to get a good quality HD master for cheap. Also I'm probably going to do some composing with Garage Band and my Casio. LOL.

Well, there's two kinds, VST effects and VST instruments (VSTi). Either way, that's sweet you can use them =D
I've used some amazing sounding orchestral packages in Mixcraft. If I can find them, I'll send 'em your way

Epitaph: Advanced Demon Disintegration Test
Finally I got it done! This is our disintegration effect. I added few extra particles, changed the transitional mechanics and basically enhanced the particles. Now they do more than just fall to the ground.

Another great fight practice today. We had a new guy who came to join the band of vampires and demons which I fight at the end of the film. I'm confident this will be a much better film than the last. All the guys are martial artist, one of them spent time and Japan and does traditional Karate. I'm really feeling good about all the actors and involved. We did a three man take down scene today and everyone seemed to understand what I was going for.

Epitaph: First Day Rehearsals
This is a bit of the rehearsals we did the for the film. It's not a lot but we're still running the lines. The actors are Anita Nicole Brown as Nightevil/Atraria and Yohanni Liman Hedges as Ashen with Jack Gusta as Fixmaster. (Basically the actors from page 1 of this thread).

Cool stuff. I personally liked the first dusting effect more. The seemed too "Star Trek", like he kinda "phases" out or something, but that's just me.
That's sweet that you're able to do rehearsals. I wish I had that luxury!

This is my first time ever doing rehearsals or fight practice outside from the day of shooting itself so this is new to me to get a chance to do them. The actors usually got together and rehearsed with one another, but I've never gotten a chance to organize it like this before.

As for the dusting, different creatures will dust in different ways so there's room for both. I wanted to have some dark energy rise off the demons. I'm finally getting the particle systems down. It's a lot of fun now that I understand how everything (at least the stuff I need right now) works.

Cool, thanks. I may download it tonight. Now I don't have to do any weird installs do I?

Wow. You simply drop the folder in the Applications folder and double click on it. I looked at it but haven't played with it yet. I've been working on some of the music (keep in mind this is based on what I think some of the scenes will look like) but it's good practice. You'll be able to hear it once vimeo decides to process it. But it is on the Epitaph group's Facebook. The beginning sounds more sci-fi but the middle is what I'm going for.

Last night I said that I would go to home depot today to buy the PVC to make the battle version of Locke's handbo stake, but realized I didn't have enough money to do so with bills coming in at this time. This morning I read Mark 6:8 the disciples were told to "take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse" In my heart I felt I would recieve the stuff I needed. I forgot about it and went to the dollar store to buy some washing powder. On the way back I saw a bunch of PVC piping laying in an alley wrapped with tape. I now have a bunch of PVC piping laying in my tub. I'm getting a saw to have it cut down. This will be the actual handbo (the stuntbo) that I fight with. It doesn't come apart.

I have also changed the demon's weapon to a bladed handbo, so we'll both be fighting with similar weapons. With the demonic assassin being indeed an assassin, it was pretty silly that he'd fight with a baton.
