But that's what he says now ;-)Why doesn't Jim just say, "We're making progress and our goal is to have it out by the end of the year. Assuming we don't run into any more problems, that goal as of now seems feasible."?
There is no way the Scarlet s35 will be released this year.
There is no way the Scarlet s35 will be released this year.
He said Scarlet S35 will be released after they satisfy initial orders for Epic. In any case Red is gearing up to deliver much higher quantities of these cameras much faster than was the case with R1, so the wait should be short.
Jarred mentioned some time ago that they were planning for production of as many as 7000 cameras a month, not much less than the number of Red ones produced in three years.
I don't expect S35 Scarlet before Q1/Q2 next year either, but the 2/3" Scarlet should be a different story.
Q: «I know it would just be counterproductive to set a date, but if things go as planned will scarlet be out before the years end?»thread title is a bit misleading... acts as though this was stated concretely, which, unless i am mistaken, it certainly wasn't.
no one said it would beThere is no way the Scarlet s35 will be released this year.well, no one official anyways...

Jason, I understand and agree with you, no worries there. You see, "I" (not anyone else) wrote "Scarlet in 2010" and the people suddenly became to talk about the S35 model. LOLEmmanuel... My only point is... this is the wild and crazy internet... where rumors become "fact", etc...
We had for several months people claiming that RED had cancelled the FF35 Scarlet, when RED had never said any such thing. It all started from one speculation thread that a member started over there saying he thought it was cancelled... from there it became spread aroudn the internet as though it were some sort of official announcement and people were going around saying that ff35 had been cancelled as though it were a set-in-stone statement of fact... Was confirmed last night that this is not the case.
In the world of overly-emotional camera owners, who seem to be more committed to promoting the success of one brand and encouraging the death of another than the actual camera makers at times, I was merely pointing out how the thread title is very likely to be misrepresented and taken as though RED has made some official "We will release epic and scarlet by end of year", when they haven't, and have also made pretty clear that the release of the cameras is dependent on any number of variables that cannot be seen through yet.
So, answering a question "If things go as planned, will scarlet be here by years end" with "yes", meaning (yes, if things go as planned) doesn't seem indicative of an iron-clad sounding "EPIC and Scarlet release in 2010".
Anyways... wasn't trying to attack you or anything... just pointing out that i cringe at titles like that when people seem to thrive on misinformation and speculation these days, and the spread of talking points. Doesn't seem healthy to promote.
EDIT: "Scarlet S35 is a reality as soon as we catch up on EPIC production" also does not come anywhere close to "S35 due out by end of year"we really shouldn't try to conclude anything more from the statements than what was actually said.
Also, the whole q/a thing was pretty clearly not intended for date projections on the DSMC cams, but for other information as to how the program is moving along, features, etc. for those who were interested.
