EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro Quick Start Guide

Make sure, when you import new footage into a project with existing 7D footage from another day (using the same file names) that you click the drop down box to import as file name and date/time stamp, otherwise you'll overwrite a few day's worth of clips in one stupid move.:furious3:

Really liking it though, besides this demonstration of absolute stupidity.

For some reason this isn't working for me :(

Me either. I did what the post said, then verified by watching the youtube tutorial and still nothing. Why isn't it working?
Is it because I'm not using a card reader, I'm just connecting the camera with the USB cable and downloading the clips?

EDIT: Nevermind, got it working. Whew, very picky with the file directory structure. Thanks.

1. Install the new Canon EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...ategoryid=139&modelid=17662#DownloadDetailAct)

2. Go to Library/Application Support/ProApps/MIO/RAD/Plugins/CanonE1.RADPLug/Contents/Resources/

2. Open up cameras.plist

3. After the 7D info add the following lines of code (keeping to the coding structure):

<key>T2i</key>
<array>
<string>Canon EOS REBEL T2i</string>
</array>

4. Save the text file. Close it. Everything should work now.

Thanks for this. I just downloaded the plugin and edited the code. Have to wait for my T2i though to try it out. Thanks again. Cheers!

I have nothing beyond Application Support, no ProApps directory and so on... anybody know why? Or where I can find the camera.plist file?

I tried re-installing the plugin, no luck.
I tried searching for the camera.plist and CanonE1.RADPLug files in Finder, no luck.

I'm running FCP 7.0.2 on OS-X 10.5.8, have not updated to Snow Leopard yet.

Help?

This plugin is working fine for me, after making that adjustment to the file to include the T2i

One major problem though; after transcoding to ProRes, the sound is off by a frame or two. Any suggestions?

So it allows you to convert to prores wihtout having to use mpeg streamclip?

Any other benefits? Does this effectively add timecode to your files?

I have been running into the issue with some of the clips not being transcoded fully. Any fix for this issue yet, besides double checking that the transfer was correct?

The very first project I used this with was the birth of my son. Now I have 2 clips between 4-8 frames instead of there actual length. Thank god the pics are still there.

I also notice that Red Giant has also released code to convert just as this does, I wonder how it handles relative to this and mpeg streamclip.

I've downloaded the trial and have been using it. It works pretty nice, less steps than MPEG Streamclip and maybe a bit faster, although doesn't seem like a ton on my quad core.

Also, it does not bring in the time of day timecode like the Canon plugin does, which is a bigtime bummer. So really, for $50 more than MpegStreamclip I don't really think it is worth it, unless you are making proxies.

How about the quality? Are they all using the same exact Codecs?

Also, anyone have a good reference of what I should set mpegstreamclip to for converting to prores? I didn't want to recreate the wheel here! :)
