EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro Quick Start Guide

Supposedly it doesn't work with the T2i, however, someone found a workaround where you can go in and modify the cameras.plist file. You can find the instructions here:

http://blog.planet5d.com/47z

I've made the changes to the file but haven't had a chance to test it yet to see if it works now (or actually I didn't even test to see if it wouldn't work without it).

Just modified the PLIST and it does not work. First, I created an entry for 550D. No go. Figured the US version might display T2i so created entries for both T2i and Rebel T2i. No go.

Let me know if your modification works just in case I overlooked something.

Thanks

Ned

Apologies. I linked to the previous page which suggests changing it to 550D. That must be for non-US folks and doesn't work. I've been poking around this morning and found out that we need to be using the T2i info instead. Change your cameras.plist to the info here:

And it will work. Or at least it works on mine. Enjoy!

And in case that goes away or you don't feel like clicking, here's the steps that worked for me:

1. Install the new Canon EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...ategoryid=139&modelid=17662#DownloadDetailAct)

2. Go to Library/Application Support/ProApps/MIO/RAD/Plugins/CanonE1.RADPLug/Contents/Resources/

2. Open up cameras.plist

3. After the 7D info add the following lines of code (keeping to the coding structure):

<key>T2i</key>
<array>
<string>Canon EOS REBEL T2i</string>
</array>

4. Save the text file. Close it. Everything should work now.

No problem. Does anyone have any insight into performance? Seems to take about the same time as mpeg streamclip. I guess it's just more about the all-in-one aspect of it. Though it also puts date/time information inside the clip? Which may be handy for syncing? May be wrong about that.

Thanks! I was definitely on the right track when I substituted T2i for 550D however I followed through all caps and entered "T2I". When I changed to lower-case i ("T2i"), plug-in successfully worked! Thanks for this terrific insight which definitely speeds things up over transcoding in Compressor or MPEG Streamclip.

BTW, I am still running 10.5.8 so contrary to published requirements of SL, Leopard still seems to work!

Does anyone know if the EOS plug in will work with Final Cut Express? I can't try it as my T2i is on order, but has not shipped yet... :(

Tried this already:

Great video tutorial though.
My T2i will be here Wednesday to try it out.
