yes.. 400 is the largest number.. can be smaller if you want to accomodate your aspect ratio.

As for file size.. 50mb is the largest allowed. This should give us some kick ass quality.

Okay, I did an H.264 QuickTime export at 100% quality (recompress box checked) and the file came out to 103MB for only 02:54 of program. I guess we need to know what the file size limit is.

OH YEAH! Especially since my movie's only 2:30 long!

Well, everything worked except the pixel aspect ratio comes out wrong. The QT file plays too skinny. I had marked "1.2" widescreen. Guess I'll try "square pixels?"

Yup, square pixels did the trick. But at 25% quality, now the QT H.264 out of Premiere file looks pretty bad for some reason. What's the highest quality H,264 compressor to buy? Should I just go with QuickTime Pro?

Bless you, Brandon. Bless you! I hope many others take notice and make tight running times! With 100+ films expected, shorter is definitely better!

I wish I could help you more but I'm on a mac.

So I just output using Compressor and choose the aspect ratio. You should be able to get a file that size though with the data through at 640 to 800 megabytes though.

Also anytime you wanna play with aspect ratios, just go like this ...

16X9
400 / 16 = 25
25 X's 9 = 225

2.35:1
400 / 2.35 = 170
170 X 1 = 170
so 400X170 for 2.35:1 which is what I'll do since I crop to cinemascope, and I'll get a little extra bandwidth that way.

just getting the server ready for uploads.. gotta clear alot of space.

Cant wait to see what you guys have.

just trying to compress

just trying to compress

I know what I got I'm just trying to get it to compress .... now trying 250 kbs and 24k audio.. at 400 kbs w/32k audio its 67 megs and its starting to look bad... never being in a fest before I used the whole 6 mins (well 5:57) and that barley seemed like enough time....

and if you guys need to see encoding examples, goto the apple trailers site, most of the stuff is all h.264 and they are getting 400w line movies down to 25mb that look good.

it's the 26th where i am. i want to hand my homework in already, hopefully get some feedback from the pro's before final deadline. when can i upload?

I'm sure they are getting it ready as quick as they can. We are potentially talking about something like 600 min. of mpeg 2 video.
