EIGHTEEN SECONDS by Jack, Zac and Mac

still seems like another version similo ill have my review once im done watching all the movies.

HVX all the way with letus and Guerilla35 (now cinemek) adapters.

Quoting:
"Out of the 1billion seconds they have lived, those 18 seconds they share is the only worth moment they had in their lives"

"It seemed like they were living two halves of the same empty life. Is that whey she died at the end?"

hey guys.. I loved this film. Thank you for sharing it. Aaron Marshall's music, the acting, the look/feel/direction.... All top notch with me and struck a heavy chord. Thank you for sharing it with the world.

Love Mac's work ! Always beautiful to watch. I suspect a main influence for you is Prieto / Inarritu collaboration ? It is one of my favorites and I get alot of the same vibes in this film.

Overall, I enjoyed this but find the montage approach to telling a story, although an ingredient we can use in our bag of tricks, to be overused these days and especially in this piece. There is the general lack of telling the story through Mis-en-scene and more montage of imagery; brushing teeth, walking down street, sleeping in bed .....

** The car accident was also an issue for me on a couple levels; with JDS being in the intersection for so long, I just knew it was coming and then the final execution was just off. It would have been great to have a shot from the POV of a driver, inside the car, looking out the windsheild as the vehicle rushes towards the pedestrian ....

I wonder if you went back and blurred Jack as much as the auto is blurred, if it would sell more ?

(Sub .02)

Overall; a captivating short film experience. This is one of the fe films that has taken me into its world and I was able to forget I was watching a film.

Great overall job !

I must give especially high marks to the young actress. Ill just leave it at that .

I think you have a curious interest in life and deatrh; and beautiful women. This is wonderful theme to explore.

Thanks, Edgen. :)
It was great working with Macgregor. When the director, the ideas, and emotion are in place and top notch, scoring is so simple. It's almost not even work. I wish every project I was on felt like this experience.

Mac, Zac, Jack, & Amy you all did an outstanding job.

to the actors Amy & Jack:

Your performances were great. They had a sincerity about them that I rarely see in relatively bigger budget indies, or big hollywood films. I'm a big fan of physical acting and body language. I think almost everything can be expressed in that way, and only enhanced by dialog. Jack, you're usually working on the other end of the spectrum with lots of dialog. I am extra impressed in how you handled yourself. The masturbation scene was brave. It had a class only the Zac & Mac team could have accomplished in that scenario.

Macgregor: I loved how you mixed the musical score in. I learned a lot from this process. As I watched the film I kept in mind how you as a storyteller wanted the cues to come in. You understand that silence is still music, a rest if you will. You use the ambient atmosphere to your advantage. You treat the score as if it were an actor. It's not going to be in every scene, but when it is it'll have 100% motivation for being there.

Congrats! :)

WOW.

I'll go out on a limb(a short one) and say WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

I've still yet to see many of the films, but it's gonna be tough when I just want to watch this over and over.

I didn't realize it was Jack until the credits - great job! No idea of your ability as a talking actor... but reactionary acting and your natural poise on camera was very impressive. I hope to see more on screen work from you along with the already impressive behind the camera work.

I hope you guys get this film shown all over the web, cuz I expect this will get you a bunch of industry attention(if you don't already have it).

Kudos!!

Can you explain me that in simple words so i can understand it?

Godforbid, someone tells a story with images.... that would be a crisis! I loved it Mac.

YES Spidey

In summary

A montage of imagery:

A cinematic device used to show a series of scenes, all related and building to some conclusion

-

I refer to this as opposed to the more traditional language in film that involves Mis-en-scene, blocking, camera movement through dolly, steadi, panning and tilting, how a character(s) interact in the frame and from one frame to another leads us to the next frame ...

=

There is nothing wrong with a montage approach, I enjoy it. It is merely an observation based on my own preferences.

I did love it. I am a huge fan of Mac's work. He takes some of most beautiful pictures around IMO

:p i like it probli the best one here but it does have the similo feel to it basic same set up (woman falls in love with boy but is tragically ran over). its great though good job but i do understand what john is saying.

All hail Mac + crew,
a god-like work putting everything cinema has to offer to full use,
I was spell-bound by this. I'd like to say more but I'll have to compose my thoughts. I love this type of sound design too, very clear single sound effects to characterise each shot, and the score as sort of a mysterious fiber joining everything together.
Man! What a treat! All the framing and movement had me cheering all the way along. This makes me want to shoot!!!!

Montage imagery can't have mis en scene? I think, or I know if you have a series of scenes linked together that all have strong mis en scene; it can have a complex & woven impact on the audience.

"mise en scène means literally "putting into the scene" or "setting in scene." When applied to the cinema, then, mise en scène refers to everything that appears before the camera and its arrangement "

There's no indication of time limit per scene.

i really liked the mood and compositions! really enjoyed the photography.

Jack you have great eyes and Amy is hot. you both look great.

best of luck with it!

Excellent job on this film. The acting was spectacular and I really enjoyed the cinematography and score as well. I had high expectations for this one and you surpassed them. Congrats.
