EF CP.2's

There is, at the moment, no adapter that will allow you to set aperture of EF lenses while mounted to F3. You would have to set aperture on a Canon camera, remove from your 5D and then mount on the F3. Birger has promised a smart mount for F3, but no indication of when it will be released. I'd say months from now.

You could also go the other way. PL to EOS adapter on your Canon DSLR cameras, CP.2 in PL mount. I'm not sure if the stock PL mounts on the CP.2 will work, or if they need to be swapped with shorter PL mounts. I have PL to EOS adapters for use on 7D with Red PL mount primes. It takes about 90 seconds to swap from a PL lens, remove adapter, back to a EOS lens. I mix the mounts on shoots all the time, not a big deal.

I've also worked with the CP.2 in EOS mount on 7D cameras. There is a bit of twisting play in the EOS mount (due to locking pin design) which caused image shift on fast focus pulls.

Hope this helps vs creating more confusion.

OK I've held back long enough:
There are two options- Zeiss engineers are dumb or they (Zeiss sales)are ripping people off....
I seriously doubt they are dumb...
All they needed to do was make PL mounts on the CPs with shorter pilots and ONE nice PL to EOS adapter PER SET OF LENSES.
No swapping mounts, collimating, shimming needed EVER. None of that mess.... but- they wouldn't be selling one $400 mount FOR EACH LENS- that's $2K for 5 lenses.
I could even live with the $2K premium... but forcing (unsuspecting) end users to swap mounts, collimate in the field without tools that's just immoral...
I've seen it- some of these guys can't even hold a screw driver; hell- they don't know they need one until they need to swap mounts...
BTW this is exactly what I did with Red Primes- made replacements PL mounts with short pilots and very nice stainless, self supporting PL2EOS adapter. As David mentioned- works like a charm. Swapping lens from PL RED to EOS Canon takes 15 seconds swapping from PL to EOS on Canon about the same amount of time..
OK rant over....

.

THAT is a huge cause for concern which I was unaware of. Are you sure their is play in a native EOS mount for these lenses? If so, a few phone calls to Zeiss are well warranted at those price points.

Is the nature of the EOS mount on the Canon body. Maybe not an issue with a aftermarket EOS adapter for the F3. For example, my Birger / Red one adapter is tight enough that the lens does not rotate user normal use. But listen to Jacek, I'm a customer and the referenced moron with a screwdriver. Keep the CP.2 in PL mount, install shorter PL mounts on the lenses and buy a PL adapter for the Canon bodies.

The mount would have to be custom made or modified. Pretty easy either way. I installed Davids mounts here. since you haven't done this before it's probably better to have it done by somebody that owns a collimator so you can have the BF verified at the same time. There are tons of PL2EOS adapters on ebay and such. Mine is the only one that has built in full support with offset to balance the camera with (substantial) PL lens on it and a carry handle for convenience and to make the setup more solid yet.
The mount adapter is also stainless steel...

Hi Gary,

Below is a photo of a RPP with the factory PL mount (left), and shorter Optitek mount installed (right). Same concept applies to CP.2 lenses.

With a PL adapter, on a EOS camera, you are limited to PL lenses which will fit inside the adapter and do not hit the camera housing or mirror. Red primes and zooms (with replacement PL mounts), Cooke zooms as is, Angie zooms as is - except for the DP line as the rear element sticks out too far.
