NEO2 booster

Wondering why this booster isn't or is it meant to work with EDIUS 5 also? Neo is entry level software, aren't most of EDIUS users with ver 5?

I believe it's because they are re-writing Edius to version 6 and including it in that update. Hopefully true 64bit with the AVCHD booster which should give it even more AVCHD RT power.

I also think they did it for Neo first because Neo is included in many AVCHD cameras (like the HMC 150/40).

Here are a couple of posts on the GV forum about the Booster

"Without Booster AVCHD files - Buffered realtime last only 15 seconds on one track (no filters)

WITH BOOSTER and AVCHD files - All day - Three tracks, 2 with PIP, Background track with Monotone filter, One other track with old movie filter + 3D transitions on two layers simultaneously + 3 title tracks.

BLOODY AMAZING especially when you consider I ran this test with the video on my C drive... and only set to 32 frame buffer!!!!

Configuration. Core i7 2,67 overclocked at 3.33 GHZ, 6GB 1600Mhz Corsair Dominator GT, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
"

"I was feeding it 1440x1080i AVCHD clips from a Panasonic AVCHD camera; these went into a 1920x1080i project setting, where I put up to 5 layers, all with some kind of filter or effect (some with multiple!), 3 of the 5 layers were 2D PinP via the Layout tool, plus transitions for everything. I didn't touch the buffer settings--I installed and went straight to it as if it were fresh out of the box.

No stopping, but an ever-so-slight stuttering on the PinP stuff. The clips were "red lined" in a few places, but for the most part, it was crazy smooth.

And the kicker--I hadn't moved the clips off the camera yet! I was still editing in place from the SD card in the camera! When I moved the clips to the C drive, the stuttering went away. I haven't moved them to the RAID to see if there are any further improvements (doubtful--this is more of a processor-intensive job).

Obviously, the average user won't have a powerhouse machine like this, but it gives you an idea of what is possible. :D "

Saw this over at the GV forum also... VERY promising!

" BOOSTER is incredible. That's my take after comparing my i7 with and without BOOSTER.

Then he goes on to say :

"Regardless, the term BOOSTER is a complete understatement. It's magic."

More info.. this time from a lower end system. From a poster at the GV forum:

"This is a low end system with an i5 750 CPU at 2.67Ghz with 8GB DDR3 dual channel 1333MHz memory and an Nvidia GT-220 PCIe graphics card w/1GB, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. The media drive is a single external 1.5TB eSATA-300 drive. System has HD Spark and FireCoder Blu w/Neo 2.5.

It will play two 1440x1080 AVC/H.264 files that I created with FCB from a native HDV timeline. The buffer will stay at 164 all day long. As soon as I add a third layer of the same spec video it will empty the buffer in about 30 seconds.

So I am giving you the low end results and Mark gave us those great high end results. This is great news for all those AVCHD users that want to have an affordable and efficient workflow."
