Editing video files out of camera

I've tried multiple ways of searching for this information but to no avail. How do you convert your MOV files out of the T2i for editing in Sony Vegas? I've tried some free software to convert it, but no luck. Does anyone have any idea how this is done or what type of conversion needs to take place?
 
Just FYI, this is posted in the "T2i Footage" forum (where folks post samples of what they've shot with the T2i), and would probably get better response in the Sony Vegas forum.

That said, MPEG StreamClip will convert your files. You need to make sure that you are converting to the proper codec for Vegas, but StreamClip will do it. As far as which codec to use, you can download AVID's free DNxHD codec, or try CineForm's NeoScene.
