Editing Canon 7d footage in Final Cut EXPRESS

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum...recently just got a Canon 7D and shot my first short film on it over the weekend....

...Excuse my ignorant question.

I've been reading up that the best way to cut 7D footage is to convert the h.264 files to Pro Res...well in Final Cut Express you don't get the tools you need for pro res :( (unless I'm mistaken), so I was wondering if there was another way to convert it to pro res...if not, what will be the best way to convert with Final Cut Express?

Apple Intermediate Codec?

I have no idea, any and all help is appreciated.

Thank you :)

AIC is about the best codec you'll have in FCE. Also remember that FCE cannot handle 24p (23.976) editing, so you're pretty much stuck working with 30p.

That would be why it's Final Cut Express. It's a light/limited version. Lots of stuff you don't have in FCE that you would in FCP:

- 24p (and other frame rates)
- expanded HD format selection
- OMF export
- Custom start-time setting for sequence
- DF/NDF selection
- Logging and batch capturing from tape-based formats

And the list goes on.
