Easy FCP import question

Just a quick question, because I think I did it wrong the first time round - I shot 720p 24pN - and then when I imported into FCP - I think I accidentally had the settings set for 720p60 -- it imported just fine, plays fine without rendering etc. and I actually edited the entire damn project this way...but is that the wrong import setting? Do I want to set it to 720p24p ? Basically which easy setup do I want to use when ingesting 720p 24pN footage?

Thanks,
Mark.

EDIT - Just another quick question...when capturing at 24pN is that a 23.98 timeline in FCP?

No one? I thought this would be pretty standard to ask...I tried searching but I guess the search tearms "final cut pro" "import" are too vague....

Im not sure of the answer, but if it worked, who cares? lol
I always use 720 24p when I edit 720 24pN footage.. So i dont think you imported it WRONG, you just used a different timeline.. I think FCP considers it 60 anyway? check the props of the clips..

It is now...but back when I edited the project is 5.1.4 [or whatever was the latest version at the time]. It.s fine for that project...but future reference...I should edit at 23.98? And when I use compressor to go to DVD does that do a pulldown [or up?] to 29.97?

Thanks,
Mark.

Edit at 23.98

Hey,
I am doing a project with those formats also.

The Compressor setting is DVCPRO HD 720p/60p
and the Capture setting is probably ...720p/24p
if you're not rendering on a 23.98fps timeline.

Everything is in order I think you're good.

You can use DVD StudioPro to create a 24P DVD with
an andvanced pulldown cadence (I think) from a 23.98
Sequence.

At least that's my understanding...
Like many I would also like to feel as if I
knew all about HD and the HVX-200 but it's complex.

I Do know that the Native formats (24pN etc.) are the bomb
and using the Variable Frame Rates is sweet.

Yeah. Anybody with a 24fps Sequence to DVD stories?
