E-mount FS700II 4K camcorder?

I wonder what sensor it has, perhaps new? Maybe I missed it but I'm assuming 10 bit internal. (dont hate me) But I gotta say they should've just made a baby f5/55, a smaller unit, neatly packed with 10 bit internal / 12 bit to recorder without any interface device. It looks like a lovely camera but that frankinrig addition throws me a little. I'm just not feeling the external hook up for RAW. Do we still need the fs700 interface addon too for the R5 or odyssey to work? It seems like its definitely a better all around camera but is it enough for me to take a hit on the fs700? We still have to use the odyssey/R5 to maximize this new camera. Come on Sony throw us fs700 users a bone, xvac 10 bit, s-log 3, something please. After all they did say this isn't going to replace the fs700 and it's almost the same price. It's just the right thing to do.

I don't think it will be that much different from the F5 internal footage or the FS700 CD Odyssey7Q ProRes
footage. It's the same sensor and 10bit compressed output. The internal A/D should be pretty much the
same the F5 already delivers.

New is the form factor...

Yes. You need the new extension unit + IFR5 + R5. Not ideal, but at least the option is there. And with a lot of places talking about a street price of €7000-8000, it strikes me as a fantastic camera, and one that really does have a good degree of futureproofing.
 
What just occurred to me is that it's pretty crazy that all these other companies (RED, BM, Axiom) are getting people excited with the idea of cameras that have interchangeable or upgradeable sensors, but then Sony goes and recycles the same sensor into 3 different bodies over 2+ years! And people are still excited. Even I'm still excited. I just goes to show there is more to a camera than the image sensor and perhaps we've hit a pretty good point in image sensor technology where most people may not need much more than 14 stops and ISO2000. Also having dealt with RED, upgradeability is never really worth it unless a manufacturer goes to great lengths to artificially make it so (for customer loyalty etc), as one would expect from looking at attempts at upgradeability in most other fast moving technologies (particularly computers).
 
The future looks bright. This camera is almost perfect, Sony is listening. Aside from the ergonomics and better internal codec our fs700's/7q will share a similar image. Image wise I'm satisfied, 4k ProRes is huge but build design, evf and the ND wheel can certainly use some improvements but if that's what it comes down to I'm not 100% sure I would make a switch just yet. Especially if they enabled 10 bit 422 or gave it slog 3 or something. They can do that and it still won't compete with this beauty. If nothing else that's the one thing the fs7 has going for it. Looks like a great camera to use.
 
My guess: sooner or later you will get one.
My dealer says available not before December that means next year.
So why wait until later? I made a pre-order today ;-) Dust and water
protection is big fact.

I think that's right. The rate of change is reaching a plateau, just like it did back when digital stills cameras replaced film. Sure, better cameras will come along, cheaper, with even better sensitivity, perhaps with internal RAW, and so on, but with a camera like this I can't see that there would be a really compelling reason to change it for a long time.
 
For me, tax purposes makes it a 2015 purchase. But that will be January 1st 2015! :)

Game changer is a word that's used to too much, but this is a game changer just because it's the most complete camera yet for the price.

I honestly feel in the last 10 years or so, there's only been a few game changing cameras

1) RED One - while out of reach for most, it was a the first alternative to the really expensive cameras
2) 5D Mark II - The camera that started a revolution.
3) F7S - the camera that everyone has been waiting for a the right price. The most complete camera yet for $8K. This is the answer to endless amounts of bitching for the last 5 years.

I like it too Gene. I see this one a keeper, the build looks really solid, ProRes down the pike. Im in...4k isn't going anywhere and it's that inexpensive you won't need to trade the camera once a new format emerges, like 6k. It's a aways away, the Fs7 looks like it'll last a while it's certainly impressive to say the least.

Yeah, the FS7 is really growing on me. Internal everything + weather sealing is whats really reeling me in. Those two alone are the reason why ive always disliked the FS700 somewhat.

I might toss my FS7Q0 out for sale too.
