DVXFest – XMAS HOLIDAY MINIFest – Official Rules
  1. Make a XMAS HOLIDAY (For the politically correct) movie that is a minimum of 3 minutes and no more than 6 and does not exceed a hard R rating (if you are unsure, ask first).
    1. 6 minutes and 1 second is a disqualification as is 2 Minutes and 59 seconds.
  2. You must use a DVXuser sanctioned leader as the first moving images in your film.
    1. Leaders available at: www.dvxfest.com/leaders
    2. You only have to use the visuals (included audio not required)
    3. The use of the leader does NOT count against your 3 to 6 minutes
  3. You must use the following prop(s) somewhere in your film (YOUR CHOICE):
A Snow Globe

or

A Hockey Stick or Baseball Bat or Golf Club

or

The Decapitated Head of Santa's Head Elf. (Just kidding)

A backpack.

  1. You must use original or licensed material in your film. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. DVXuser (or its partners) assumes no liability for copyright violations. We will make a good faith effort to identify any and all copyright violations in submitted entries.
HOLIDAY XMAS FEST Run Dates​




Shooting dates start now. The dates to make your film are from NOV 24th, 2011 to DEC 23, 2011. The deadline for uploads will be December 23, 2011, at 4pm Pacific Standard Time. HOSTING WILL BE ON AS VIMEO CHANNEL TO BE ANNOUNCED WITH A PASSWORD

XMAS HOLIDAY MINI Fest Promotion​
  1. No more than 15 seconds of footage from your film is to be publicly displayed prior to the conclusion of the festival. (DVXuser may grant a waiver for live film festivals that premiere prior to the conclusion of DVXFest. You must make this request in writing prior to any public viewing.)
  2. You may promote your film (and dvxfest in general) on, or outside of, DVXuser. Please do not register to websites simply to spam links to your fest entry. Utilize channels and communities you are already involved in. “Spammy” behavior will be grounds for disqualification.
*DVXuser reserves the right to alter or edit these rules until December 15[SUP]th[/SUP], 2011.
**DVXuser reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason.

Required line of dialog?

When I first saw the required line of dialog "TO BE ANNOUNCED ASAP", I thought "Dang, that's gonna be hard/weird to work into the script."
 
Just go ahead and write! The important thing is to get the story down. The line is not a major plot point so you really can work around it. Once you start writing you may be surprised what comes out. I know Keaton is surprised at my first pass...
 
I am already on the way with this one! I got a bar for my location, and working on the script. All I need now is an audition :D
 
I've already got my script written and any of your suggestions will fit just fine. Last time I got shot in the ass trying to force the dumb lines into ScareFest and I'd rather not repeat that experience. :)
 
Ahh it's for the fun of it! I'm actually excited to be making a Christmas movie. It would be cool to have a good selection of Christmas shorts to watch over the holidays. Yuo know how abysmal holiday programming usually is. This will be a nice change. We just all shoudl start early before the madness of the holiday sets in.
