Hahaha, hey Guest, I don't own squat either, but I don't think people would call the DVX police if you register and feel welcome here. I know I do.
On a different note, How can anyone *Think* that those images look like HD when watching on a 300X200 Pixel compressed web clip?! How can anyone tell?! I mean, we can feel the 24p motion, cinegamma, composition and lighting, but resolution? Anything can look sharp as hell on those tiny boxes!! (Again no harm intended to this clip, it was great and everybody knows it...)
its easy to tell its not about the res of the clip its the color representation and how well the latitude is being held of the image i noticed there was hardly any dof but the rest looked very similar to hd.
Funny thing is... there was some other guy also filming with a GL2. I looked at his footage and noticed a huge difference between the 2 cameras. I think he did a differnt white balance than me... the colors where quite differnt and it was a little to grainy.
Ozan,
Gorgeous footage. Shows what professional lighting can do for any camera especially the "lil' Wonder' DVX100. Anyone sitting on the fence about what camera to buy should check out your footage. i believe Panasonic would agree.

I was wondering when you would speak about white balance. It seem to be the single most important aspect of camera setup in regards to the DVX and how the final image looks.
>is there any *tips* to the *fancy* but *subtle* zoom/focus effects you applied to this project? (most notably, the "boxing" sequence, towards the *boots*)
>i assume lighting was provided by your partner, but, any suggestions?
I think (maybe) these questions would clear some things up (or give insight to others like me) for most of the viewers.
edited on prem V6.02... using DVD500plus! It does the job so i dont complain!
No post collorection at alll... all raw footage! Didnt want to spend anytime on it! Quick lay down, add music, and then output! Very basic!
All the zoom/focus effects... where from me using the camera. Was on "MF" and using the "zoom ring" at the same time. Takes alittle figure cordination!
They did alot of takes for each sequence... soo i got a few tries to play around with.
The lighting was all done for the 35mm camera. I didnt really pay any attention to wat the DOP was doing. I was to busy eating food/talking to crew members and filming with my camera. DOP did a great job though. My friend who was directing the commerical piece said that the 35mm transfurr footage loooked AWESOME!
This looks like the camera for me. I know it has all to do with the lighting, but that camera rocks. The camera work was great !!!!
This looks like the camera I will be investing in in the near future.
I'm working on a Star Wars fan film I shot about a year ago and we've been in post production ever since. The problem was we had to shoot on a borrowed BETA SP camera to get the best looking footage for free. I wish I had known about the DVX100 then as it would have solved all the headaches of transferring and capturing footage that we've had for a while now.
Is there a chance you can post some full frame stills? This will give us a chance to look at the level of detail in the shots.
In particular the one behind the boxer and the last shot with the director would be great to see full res.
Amazing stuff, especially as you had to work around the full crew working on this shoot. It looks like they almost light it just for you!!!
Beautiful footage. Possibly the best comparison to film I've seen from this camera. Also watched your "mock" commercial, nicely done(though I didn't get sound). Curious if the commercial had a lot of post work to have it look like that or if it was strictly the camera also.
Also, did the director do any Bif Naked videos for Triton Films? I PA'd for them a few times and the director looked totally familiar.
