DVX Cleaning question

The heads on my AG DVX100a are dirty and I'm not comfortable with cleaning them myself. I checked the panasonic website, but was unable to determine if they provide this service. I also checked their recomended servicers in my area, but the choices were slim and looked doggy. Is there a reputable company I can trust to clean the heads on my dvx100a?

I guess everyone here cleans their own camcorder. Maybe I should do the same.

I called the local servicer that Panasonic suggested and they didn't seem 'qualified' over the phone. I talked to the nice lady and she didn't seem to know anything about a DVX100a. I guess heads are heads, but it makes me nervous when someone asks "is that consumer or professional?".

Has anyone found a reputable company that cleans DVX-100a heads on a regular basis. I'd rather pay more to have it done right, than pay less and regret it.

Thanks!

Don't know where you're located, but Digitron in the LA area is an excellent Pana authorized repair facility. Ask for Eric. Shouldn't cost too much for a cleaning.
Hope this helps.

Was the cleaning fees a set rate, or was the rate determined by the level of the cleaning. The local shop here state that it will cost $125 for them to 'look at it' to determine what work is needed, then I will receive an estimate. If I chose to go with their price the $125 goes towards the work done. I told them I know what work is needed (clean the heads), but it didn't change their disposition.

I contacted panasonics professional division at: PBTSCSERVICE@us.panasonic.com
and got the following reply

We recommend that you forward the camera to the Panasonic Digital Repair Center in Kansas. An RA Number is required to send the camera in.

Please provide us with the following information and we will send you an RA Number, address, and other information needed to send the camera for repair:

· Your complete shipping address.

· Your phone number.

· The Serial Number of your camera.

Thank you,

Panasonic Technical Support

So, if you need ur camera cleaned/repaired you can contact them too!

Thx!

I discovered it cost $130 to determine what needs to be done to the camera (regardless that I told them I want to send it in to have the heads cleaned). They will generate an estimate for the repairs. If I choose to pay for the repairs the $130 inspection fee will contribute to the repairs (which is good), otherwise it cost me $130 for them to look at it. Man, if it cost $130 to look at it what would it cost to clean/repair it!?!?!??!?!
