dvx 100b for $1549.00, could this be true??

"could this be true?"

no

check resellerratings.com before you buy anything, and make sure its a panasonic authorised dealer, which they are not

i may buy a dvx 100b off a contact of mine? how do i physically check the camera to make sure it has a usa warranty and is the real deal? is there something in the model # or serial # that specs out? anything on the camera? i dont want to buy a "grey market" camera.

biggest thing is to make sure they are a panasonic authorized dealer, if they are its a load off your mined.

As far as physical markings, im not sure, if no one else responds, send a PM to one of the mods

true dat

By the way, I believe Royal and Broadway Photo are the same company. I think this was mentioned on a forum somewhere before. I know for a fact they both use the same high pressure and inappropriate tactics on the phone. They're big jerks and treat you like crap. Don't buy from these people.

Don't ever buy from Royal Camera...I ordered a DVX100b for $2400 and got ripped off...they sent me just the accessories and said they have a back order...I'm still trying to get all my money back.

Good news though...I bought the DVX100b from a user on dvxuser.com and I got it in great condition.

Don't say I never warned anyone.... Bad treatment is an understatement...I still wonder how they have gotten away with it for so long.

if they are so bad and no one likes them, how the heck do they stay in business enough to have ads on leading video magazines? i mean, seriously, what the hell?

Agreed. I made the mistake of not looking into who I was buying from. I got a DVX alright, but I also got $1300 into debt as well.

Check into who you're buying from. If you're leary at all, it's probably not a good idea.

I guess what bothers me is that they (non auth dealers) can sell a 'grey market' camera which is the same camera as usa/canada camera and sell it for approx 1500.00 less than the 'authorized places' and so really you are paying 1500.00 for a warranty and peace of mind. Makes me mad that Panasonic charges so much. Obviously the camera is sold for less in other places of the world.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with gray market cameras. All it means is that the camera was meant to be sold in a foreign market and not the US. Based on this definition, everyone in Japan owns a "gray market" camera.

When I lived in the US, I owned a DVX100. Now that I live in the Philippines, I own a DVX100A. I bought the DVX100A here and it's a Japanese model. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Works just as well as my original DVX100.

Here's the problem with buying "gray market" cameras in the US: It's the unscrupulous dealers. They just rip you off or give you a difficult time with customer service. So if you're buying a used camera that's past its warranty anyways, you can't go wrong buying gray market.

Remember, these cameras, whether gray or not, are all manufactured by the same company. Don't confuse it with buying a "fake" product.
