DVCPRO HD Frame rate converter not working

Okay, here is the problem...

I shot some footage on my hvx200 at 720p30 and then changed it to film mode and put the frame rate at 60 to get some slow motion shots.
When I bring it into final cut pro it comes in as 720p60 (59.94) and when I try to use the frame rate converter I get this error message

http://www.okayyellow.com/errormessage.png

as you can see the footage matches exactly what the converter says it needs

I also tried to pull it into cinema tools but the conform button is grayed out

I did a few tests using the 720p60 settings and again get the same error message!
any ideas?

thanks!

I think I had this problem once. If you were in 720p30 and you switched to "film cam" and changed the framerate, but did not go into the other menu and switch to 720/30pn or 720/24pn, then what you did was end up shooting 720p60i !!

hmmm
so you have to have it in native to get the frame rate converter to work?
I thought the pn modes means the camera does not take any extra frames.

What I dont understand is when I have the footage in a 60p time line every frame is unique no duplicates and no signs of interlacing, In fact when i drag the footage into a fcp timeline, it asks to change it to match the settings, and it is definitely a 60p not 60i timeline.

Could you explain how it could be 720p and 60i at the same time?

I have footage I took a while back and the converter works on that... and the properties in fcp match the properties of the footage I am having trouble with... I wish I could remember what settings the camera was on!

Im pretty sure that the camera has to be in native mode to get the VFR to work.

What i meant by 60i was 720/60p (59.94). It is 60p, but has a 59.94 interlaced pull down.

Just switch the camera to 24pn or 30pn, filmcam 60 frames, do a quick test shot, and see if that footage works.

i shoot most of my 60p footage in the 720/60p mode(non native, and to record sound) and my dvcproHD framerate converter has never worked for that, i've always had to use the cinema tools converting method.

I had problems with this as well...and I just figured out how to do it.

You have to open a BRAND NEW project and import the footage, then use the converter. Select 23.98 and Remove Duplicate frames. It will create the clips. You can then use them in any other project.

The only catch is you have to do each clip individually. I haven't figured out how to do a batch convert. I tried to select all then convert, but it only did the first clip selected.

I keep on getting this same error even though using a brand new project. What should i have my new sequence setting set as?

thank in advance

I'm having an issue where It keeps wanting to import the wrong clip. In the frame rate converter window, it shows the name of the wrong clip. it stopped when i excited the program for a moment and then came in. it imports the one i ask for now. I am also looking for a way to batch convert all my Iditarod 2010 footage. -looks gorgious

i shoot most of my 60p footage in the 720/60p mode(non native, and to record sound)

you WILL record sound in any of the available 720pN modes unless you overcrank or undercrank the camera (i.e. unless you use variable frame rates) providing your framerate is left at default for the selected recording fps.
