DualA--i'd hang myself but the cable is too short

i studied this forum for months before buying my HVX200
i knew i was going to need a "Dual Adapter" to get my footage
into my MacBook Pro
so i'm sitting there with my new 200, a new DAdapt and my Mac
DualA's netsite & their packaging says works with OS 10.4 & higher
well i guess i'm that last chap in this bunch to learn
that the DualA is a useless pc. of plastic without OS 10.8
after spending 4 hours trying to upgrade my mac to this obscure version
i remain calm and use this as an excuse to upgrade to
the latest MBPro (juiced 4 video)
DAdapt still will not load onto the new Mac
after years in the industry i still haven't learned that you can't solve your
problems by just throwing money at a workflow weak point
does anyone out there have a thought as to where i should from here?
(other than farming)
 
You can offload P2 cards by using the camera and a firewire (on mac) or usb cable (on pc). You just have to put the camera into the appropriate host mode for the type of computer/cable you are using.
 
There are free updates all the way to 10.4.11 for the MacOS.

It works with our MBP in 10.4.10 and in 10.5.

Have you used the latest drivers at the company's web site?
