Dropped My A1...

Just takes a little confidence.

I'd take a $20k camera out, like a Red. So long as I can hold it reasonably.

Confidence, yes. But what happens when someone's board goes flying and hits your lens?

I never film at the park.....not so much cuz I'm afraid of camera damage, but I'd rather be skating!

Confidence in my reflexes to defend my camera against flying boards.

But I don't do uncontrolled skate parks much. Just a friend or two around town.

Parks can be dangerous with all the groms. It's crazy enough trying to film....let alone skate when a stray board falls into the bowl. The other day a little kid's matchbox car rolled into the pool. That was a first.

We have insurance but basically if we damage any one item it's not even worth reporting, best just to buy a new one. The deductible is like $2,500 so it's pretty brutal. The only items we own that individually cost more than that are like the laptops, the HVX200s, the XH-A1 (barely), and... that's about it, really.

Sorry to hear about the camera. :(

Never one to heed my own advice, as seen here. "Dude, just go into the bowl, the shot will look cool." Nothing happened to the camera or the skater, but lesson learned.

I should have the full video up soon. This camera is great. The user...not so much.
