OTHER: Drawing With Chalk Feature Film Trailer

How about this:

The Program Director of the HoEIFF actually searched out Isaac (our Executive Producer) to apologize for the conditions of the screening. He explained that he recently took over the festival and that he tried to overhaul the way the festival was handled. He even offered to re-screen the film and correct the problems with the first screening. I guess there is still hope...

Needless to say, this is a learning experience and I guess (at the very least) the festival coordinators reached out to our concerns. I've always been one to give people a second chance.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but that was beautiful. Great story, acting and direction. The story is very touching, because this guy could very easily be a filmmaker. There are a bunch of us in the same situation. You've got a winner here. Good luck!

Thanks Marlon,

I also have to thank everyone here at dvxuser.com. I've had great feedback and that has helped me to make changes to the film that has made it stronger and tighter. Amazing that it went from 122 min. to 106 min. to 93 min. and is now sitting pretty at 88 min.

It's so true that less is more.

DWC has been chosen as the opening film for the 2009 Idaho International Film Festival. The festival runs Sept. 24th-27th and we are screening at the Egyptian Theater (seats 1200+) at 7pm on Thursday Sept. 24th.

If anyone is near Boise, come check out the film.

Awesome! See I keep telling you, you've got a great movie. Just keep at it and don't give up!

congrats on the festival selection! keep going.

Same to you! The Video Guys is doing great (and the trailer is very good). Ironically we had shot at Peter Giles house (he's Johnny Ferro's stepfather) for one of our locations. Small world!

Just wanted to say this looks great - not surprising the festival selections. The simple CC is very refreshing and it's also one of the first indie trailers I've seen in a dog's age where none of the acting bothered me. I'll keep an eye out for future screenings..

Yes! I just met Peter and Nyna at the festival... sweet people. And Johnny is a good kid... good, young actor. Potential there.
So we Keep going... We have some good product coming out of New York here.... sooner or later we'll make a couple of bucks.

Just got word that DWC is an official selection at the Indo-American Arts Film Festival right here in NYC, Nov. 11-15. Next month DWC is the Opening Night Gala film at the Idaho International Film Festival (Sept. 24th in Boise). Finally it seems the new cut is making it's way into the festivals....

Also just found out we are an official selection at a real cool festival in Oregon in October. The BendFilm Festival runs Oct. 8-11 so if you are in the area, please come and see it! Not sure of the screening date yet, but I will post more soon!

Thanks Pixelated for the info way back in March. I had sent the festival a newer cut and they seemed to like it. Big change from last year when I was submitting....

Congrats guys, looks great. When its available on dvd let me know. I will definitely pick it up.
Best of luck on the festival circuit

Thanks zerg and Adam!

More than likely we will end up distributing the DVD (and blu-ray) ourselves. That is unless something miraculous happens at one of these festivals. I plan on including deleted scenes, commentary tracks, interviews with us about the process of doing everything when making a feature film, behind the music scene (about us recording the music for the soundtrack), a film festival section as well as bloopers. Still a lot of work ahead...

I'm with Zerg about the DVD, been hooked since the trailer :) continued luck in the festivals!

Trust - the whole movie looks as good as the trailer.

Thanks zerg and Adam!

Congrats on the festivals - I'll be starting my festival run soon. - Let us know when/if you do the self-distribute thing. I told you I'll be one of first.

Sign me up too...still dying to see this film Todd. I'm still bumming I wasn't able to catch you at the Upstate Independents meeting. Please keep us posted on it's availability.

Thanks jls4 and zaza.

We may still try to do something with UI (have to figure out schedules, etc.). And jls4, your suggestions made the film much stronger (I really should try to get you another cut). Good luck with your festival run too! :)

Also, the cool thing about the MIAAC festival (Indo-American Arts Festival) is that Slumdog Millionaire made it's NY premiere here.

When I saw the trailer for this film.. I thought it was about me..

I'm not as old as the guys in it, but I've been through the....

"I want to be a rockstar phase"

I quit my job on a whim because I got irritated with management and wound up using that as an opportunity to fulfill my dream. I was already married, and my wife supported me at first.. but eventually all the touring and time I spent on music wrecked our marriage. We had to move her sister and kids in with us to pay for everything, and that was a nightmare. Eventually I came to my senses and moved on.. but it was a rough journey. Now, I have a great wife and a great son to show for it. I don't regret my choices.. but it was tough to give up a dream like that. Now I have new dreams, that work with my family.

I can't wait to see this film.
