Don't you hate it when Photographers butt into a video discussion?

No, I do not. Most of my friends use DSLR to make short videos. We can share the reviews of the products, good places for fun and so on. I like their videos that seems very pro. :)

Best regards

Hey, who said you were allowed to have fun?
We don't want any of your kind around here.

I was a photographer for many years, and learned from my uncle, who was a fashion photographer that used to shoot for 'W' magazine. Except for some lighting basics and technology regarding lenses, there wasn't much else I was able to bring over to the video world. And i'm still learning about video all the time, especially by reading this website and other blogs (like Philip Bloom).

As a self proclaimed amateur photographer who is dabbling in video a little more seriously these days all i gotta' say wholly-f*ck video is another animal all together. So much to learn and take all the time. Boggles my mind at times. I would kill for the opportunity to just quietly learn from some of you on here. But on the topic of this thread, there are d*ckheads on both sides. Met so many people in photography who have looked at my gear and just brushed me off as a joke because they think either my gear is inferior or they are superior in knowledge. I never look down upon anyone I meet out and about shooting. Always try and learn from the people you meet is the best way to go about things IMO.

Totally agree with this thread, video is on a whole new level to what photographers do.

However, I do find that at my current level of photography (just an average keen hobbyist) that everything I've been learning about the fundamentals of photography has been directly able to help improve my filmmaking too :-)

On the flip side I've seen photographers try to do "video" at a wedding, and take a clip in portrait orientation in 60i. Because they don't know better. :cheesy:

LOL!

I show them this whenever I see that happening:
