its an expresscard slot, not a PCMCIA slot for P2 cards, so NO it cannot read them or fit them for that matter, but you can get an adapter made by Duel Systems

for only 120 bucks, that will allow you to connect that P2 card to the Macbook Pro.

Ive got 2 of them and both have worked flawlessly for what has to be over a couple hundred gigs of transferes by now. Not a single bit lost

Cynic, with the Duel Systems adapter, I just slap the P2 card in to offload the footage. If I had 2 P2 cards... one could be in the cam shooting while the other is offloading to an external hard drive via my 17" MacBook Pro, correct? Sorry to jump in, but I've been trying to wrap my head around this the last few weeks (HVX DVD vol. 2 is on the way :)). What set up do you have for an external hard drive by the way?

be weary of the duel adapter, there have been TONS of problems with them. So much so that I put the 120$ towards a 690$ acer laptop (dual core; it's a good deal) with a cardbus slot. I run the cards through the laptop then xfer them to the mac via a fast fat32 ext. bu powered drive.

It helps too because you can preview/discard with p2 viewer in windows, apply your settings, view it in natve 720p, then backup/send from there. It's also a better workflow setup if you have a digital footage manager for logging. Let him handle it on a seperate comp for less than 700$ with no headaches, then send you only the good stuff to edit on your mac.

My solution, use it at your own non-risk.

Be "weary" of the duel adapter? Actually that does make sense.

However, there have been some good successes too. I hope the company gets the driver issue settled with 10.4.9. It would certainly add to the p2 workflow for EC/34 transfers.
