does 60D have full HDMI out like 7D???

I've heard that the 7D has full HDMI out capacity for previewing HD on an external monitor, unlike the 5DMII that downscales to 480.

Can anyone tell me if the 60D is the same as 7D in that respect?

I'm asking because I just purchased a SMallHD monitor which I'm expecting to receiving any day now, and I'd like to know if the 60D has the same full HD output as 7D.

it definitely does not. There was a video test showing this 100% on vimeo. The only reason the 7D can do this is because it has Dual Digic 4 processors. Not even the 5DmkII can output full 1080p video when recording.
 
well the screen doesn't go black when you hit the record button on the 7D which is very nice when recording, also way more accurate for focus. I do like the 60D's rotatable screen though, it is a big step up from the t2i in my opinion
 
Can anybody show me a link to the cable that I would need to connect a monitor to the Canon 7d and also what would I need to pull focus without having to touch the camera lens for the 7d. I'm new to this camera and I want to be able to have a little set up to film.
 
I would think you just need a mini hdmi to hdmi cable to connect the 7d to a monitor like the smallHD. Follow focus wise I would go with the zacuto z focus.
 
Absolutely. If you've got $1350 to spend on a follow focus then go for the Zacuto!

Unfortunately, many folks here do not have that kind of money to devote to that and there is a continuous search for a follow focus (as well as other gear) that is "affordable" and reliable. In some areas this appears possible, in other areas not. As a beginner with some of this gear my sense so far is that a follow focus falls into the "you get what you pay for" category and that the cheaper ones tend to have problems. Because of this perception on my part, I purchased a Redrock FF yesterday for around $600. It killed me to have to spend this much but I've heard it's a good one.

i personally went with shoot35.com's follow focus as it seemed to be the best build quality for the best price.

and yes, you need an HDMI to Mini HDMI cable to plug in most monitors.
