Do you need to install driver for camcorders?

My computer can't detect my camcorder via Firewire. It works with USB 2.0 connection though, instant detect. Only when I plug in using my Firewire, it doesn't.

It's not my firewire cable, I have 2 and both of them works with other computer. Only not my computer.

My computer is fairly new with spec :
Windows Vista Ultimate
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor
2.00GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4670
I'm using a Panasonic NV-Gs35 digital camcorder. I lost my manual.

It's on and on playback. Turned off and on it again with no results.

Was wondering is there any certain driver's needed via firewire?

If the cables work on other computers it is either your firewire card or the camera being weird.

Check your device manager in the control panel on your PC and see if the firewire card is working and doesn't have a big yellow question mark next to it's name.

You could also try using a different camera. If a different camera doesn't work then its most likely a firewire card problem.

Hi does this means my firewire card is installed?

Yes I have tried other cameras and still does not work. Does this mean I have to replace my Firewire card?
