AC90: do I need any filters for filming a Golf event?

I am away covering a Golf event this week in Portugal (hopefully 'sunny'). 90% Footage to be captured outside, 10% inside

Post editing time is restrictive so the more better I capture with the AC90, the less I have to do in post edit (fingers crossed)

Do I need a polarising or ND filter or any other filters??

PS I am assuming the 49mm filters just go straight in the lens and I dont need to remove the cover.. or doI?

Thanks

yes,you will need an nd filter.
i film football with a sony ex-1 and my crew at other grounds use the ac-90.
2 of them use a hoya and the other uses a heliopan.
surprisingly i like the hoya image better than the heli.
they are all 3 stop and think probably should have got a 4 as well.
white football helmets and jerseys look over exposed to me at times.
at least with golf you wouldn't have this issue.

Thanks, do you know which Hoya Nd filter you're using?

Is this any good? Hoya HMC NDX400

i've got the (ndx8)0.9
i would get that one.

we cover 6 hours from 8am till 2pm.
i tell them to leave the filter on and just use auto iris.
they have filmed in all conditions with good results.
not perfect,but good.
they have other things to worry about so went with the safe option that would guarantee good results for my clients.
the feedback has been great,so i stuck with that.
in saying that,i will be selling these and going with all sony ex-1 next year.

are you going to shoot manual iris?
if you do i think you will have great results with the ndx8 filter.

Thanks for your detailed replies.

Well, I'm really trying to do everything manual now, but scared I will make mistakes and wont be able to recapture the footage.. Im just doing some researching on shooting with a manual iris so lets see if I can get my confidence up in time :-)

Unfortunately I had already ordered the NDX400 and I have a feeling its wrong (got to leave late tonight so no chance of getting another from anywhere in Liverpool

I was recommended to use a 3 stop ND filter WITH an IR/UV cut filter.

This is because digital sensors are more susceptible to IR and UV when wide open. There is a lot of UV and IAR in bright sunshine.

It goes without saying use good quality filters... B+W or Hoya etc

This came out of several threads on using an ND filter on the AC90 about 6 months ago.

Ahh yes I think I found that thread and the links, thank you. Unfortunately I'm getting on a plane in a few hours so I will have to deal with it once am there.

I am thinking because it is more important to have some good ND for a golf event than it is to have a polarizer.
