GH2 DMW-DCC8 Dc coupler + Pearstone NP-F975 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 7600mAh)

I would like to report that I was able to power the GH2 using a Tekkeon battery MP3450i via the Panasonics DMW-DCC8. I didn't had to purchase any additional adapters, I used one of the little adapters included with the battery and it connects to the female end tip of the DMW-DCC8 rock solid! so no messing around soldering cables. I'll run a test just to see how much life I get out of that battery. With this kit I'm able to attach the battery easly to my rig: http://www.cpmfilmtools.com/Tekkeon_Battery_Mount_p/076_tek_snp_pck%20-%2076.htm

Thanks for the info. I think this is the path I'm going to take. The MP3450i can be bought for as low as $130. I'm going to have to find a mounting option that's not so aesthetically displeasing to me.

You are welcome vcassel, I'll post some pics soon on how I mounted the batter on the rig. I was able to shoot for about 8 hours straight draining only HALF of the Tekkeon Battery capacity. The camera was using the 20mm f1.7 just sitting in a table, so there camera wasn't doing much auto focus or exposure work. I think that after this test it is safe to say that we can shot for about 13 hours straight using this setup.

I gotta wonder if the MP3450 would work just as well. It's $50 cheaper. It's hard to tell from the site what the major differences are other than the MP3450 has a voltage selector with 9 adapter tips while the MP3450 has a manual voltage setting with 5 adapter tips. Any clue on that?

I haven't tried that battery, but since you don't have an 8.5V option I don't know if it'll work work on 9v. What I know for sure is that it doesn't works on 7.5V because when I set my mp350i to 7.5 the camera just won't stay on.

Ah, thanks! Guess I'm going with the MP3450i then. Just gotta think of a way of mounting the sucker given the limited space on my rig.

Watch out for the overall weight, the battery is kind of heavy by itself. The CPM brackets are very very light and the battery is clamped super tight.

Yeah, I guess if I'm going to spend $80 then the CPM route will probably be best.

Sweet! Post some pics when you have the kit ready. The other thing I liked about the Tekkeon battery is that the included tip adapter fits tight enough with the panasonics DMW-DCC8 coupler, so no DIY stuff that might fail in the worst moment. I shoot weddings, so I just can't afford the risk of having the battery connection fail and loose a 30 to 50 min clip. As a backup I still have the original battery fully charged.

Beernardo, did you set it at 7.5 or 9 volts? I have the MP3450 as well and there is no setting for 8.4V out.

Mine is the MP3450i, so I use it at 8.4V. Previously I tried at 7.5, but the camera turned off immediately after turning on.

Well, I have bought "Panasonic DMW-DCC8 DC Coupler" on eBay and it does NOT work! Tried to supply voltage of 8.4v and then 7.2v, 7.6v, 8,2v from the Tamiya battery (8.4v /4600mAh) and AC adaptor that outputs 8.4v and I am only getting " This battery can not be used"... I have even tried to supply power from my original GH2 battery (that works without this coupler) with the same results. So my DC coupler seems to be not a GENUINE Panasonic DMW-DCC8 DC coupler.
Be careful when you buy them and double check what you'll get...

Using 9v supply, will my GH2 fry?

Using 9v supply, will my GH2 fry?

Hi guys, I have the coupler coming, sadly hadn't read this thread when bought off ebay so probably won't work! but i'm in the UK and a lot of our multivoltage supplies I'm intending to use it with for running off the mains have a setting for 9v but not 8.4v. Does anyone know if I connect it to the coupler will it damage the coupler or, a tad worse, my GH2? Thanks.
