DJI Osmo Handheld 4K Camera and 3-Axis Gimbal

This looks pretty decent to me, discounting YouTube's horrible compression, this looks pretty good. Wish it had some Med and MCU of people but for scenics and a nice grade, this works.

It looks a lot better than a 60mbps codec would lead you to expect.

I saw some second hand info on dvinfo saying the X5 mount wouldn't show up until December. I haven't seen any info on the x5r release.

I have my X5 ordered and will give a DVXuser report after I receive. I also have the Osmo handle coming as well for the X5.
I have the X3 with plans to order X5 later, but I will not order it until I have verification that there is no fan noise.

I'd be surprised if the X5 doesn't have a fan and that there's a little noise from it. The Osmo runs hot, way hot. I just did 5 minutes of shooting last night with mine and the surfaces of the gimbal were very hot to the touch. The handle stays cool and when I pulled out the battery it was fine too. But for some reason the three actuators in the gimbal get super hot and need some sort of heat release.

IMO the best audio for the Osmo will be either wireless lav or a second unit boom operator.

After owning the Osmo for over a week now I am still out as to whether I like it or not, I shoot mostly in 1080 24p and have found the clips to be very jerky even if my movements or panning is very slow. I believe it is a compression issue of some sort as I have not had this problem on any of my current or past camera's. After watching the background in some of DJI's promo video's I can also see it. I've noticed their clips are very fast in their video's, so it hides it well. I have not shot in any other resolution or frame rate's at this point, so I don't know if it's a 24 p thing or not! Has anyone else noticed this with theirs I am curious?

I haven't done a ton of testing, but you might just be seeing the standard strobing that occurs with fast movement at 24p. Or it might be the pull down. 30 and 60p doesn't have any problem on mine. The 24p does seem a bit strange.

Definitely not strobing though I did think that at first, but it happens at any panning speed no mater how slow. I hope it's and issue they can fix I seldom shoot anything in 30 or 60P.

My Osmo arrived on Friday. Worst out of box experience I have ever had with a new piece of gear. Instructions are limited, confusing, make little sense. After charging the battery overnight, I tried to initialize and link to my iPhone, Osmo kept just shutting down. The phone bracket basically won't hold my iPhone with the case on it, I am going to have to ditch my battery case when I use the iPhone with the Osmo because if I don't, the iPhone is basically falling out of the bracket on the Osmo. Even when the Osmo did power up, I only saw picture on my phone for perhaps 1-2 seconds, then the Osmo would power down like the battery was dead, so I am not even sure if it ever initialized? Battery charged all weekend as I was out doing family stuff, going to try it again tomorrow. If it doesn't start behaving, it's getting shipped back to B&H for a refund. Not a good experience at all, DJI needs some lessons from the other manufacturers and Apple on how to create a positive out of box experience for their customers. Too bad, I was pretty hyped to fall in love with the Osmo but now, I am shipping it back unless it behaves.
