DIY IndieSlider...

some more slider footage i shot this past weekend...i kick myself for not bringing my tripod to help level some of these shots, as all i had were my 2x4 slider feet on pretty rough terrain. hope you like the vid!

Nice job Chris. I would say in 50% of all cases, a slider can substitute a dolly, without the hassle.

Can anybody tell me about the Manfrotto 325n from first hand experience please.

It looks from pictures I've seen like you can't actually use it for levelling, and that's it's just an adapter, equivelant to removing the ball and mounting the head on a riser. Is that right? I was thinking of getting one for on top of the Zaza carriage, but if it's just an adapter, and won't help levelling, I'll definitely save my money and just buy a riser set (when filmtools decide to restock - Grr).

Many thanks

for those that may still be on the wall about building a slider because of cost/ordering parts, you can try the $14 slider with all homedepot parts, click through to vimeo to also find a closeup video of the assembly,

cheers

Chris...GREAT job! What a wonderful location that would be for a film. I need to find some places like that where I am....once all this snow melts!!!
Cheers.

Hey Joe.. this is hardly a DIY slider...probably NOT the proper place to post this do you think?
I was trying to keep this thread on track. You do know you can start you own thread, right?

There are hunderds of different sliders out there and this is just another... the igus is still the best value (IMHO) and you can build one
for about $170.00...and if you want to build a small one (like yours)...is can be done for about $80.00.

Peace.

I recently made a quick video for another cheap way to add some legs to your zaza slider

$285 is a pretty penny compared to $170. I agree this is a DIY thread not the marketplace. Now from my viewpoint I have the same head on my igus slider and your slider looks significantly more rinky dink. It may work ok for a DSLR, but I'd like to see it hold a more robust cam. Can you put that on a tripod and as it slides to the ends would it flex? If I were going to spend that much for my next slider, I might just get a longer Igus slider.

Sorry guys, here's the real link

Oh and by the way kdawg, I agree with you about IGUS being the nicest budget friendly slider there is. In fact, I have a 2 foot and 6 foot slider in my arsenal.........I hate that your name is kdawg by the way

Thanks for the plug!
This isn't new though... it was posted about 2 years ago.... I know, this is a MONSTER thread but there is a ton of info in here.
Problem is, you can't level them and they really aren't that stable....too close together.

I haven't seen this alternative idea yet. Just have always used the tripod set to different heights. Wow 6 footer KayDawgy ? Nice! And nice alternative to my name :p I got lucky to join years ago when it was available.
