Please I need some advice on how to mount the ingus rail directly onto a tripod head (libec H38) The center hole is too big would it be advisable to drill a hole off center clsoe to thr center hole
Thanks

I just looked into the shipping the other day for you guys...and all I can say is WOW! Shipping just the basic parts (1000mm rail & carriage) via UPS would run around $230.00. USPS costs around $100.00. I'd check that New Zealand distributor. Please let us know how you make out.

I must say I was doing some script breakdowns in Gorilla yesterday and on one of the storyboards is a place for "equipment needed for this shot"... for some reason I had previously entered "Zaza Slider" in the equipment list... guess I'll be ordering my parts soon, but my friend Jake already built his and loves it.

Just wanted you to know it's on my suggested equipment list already.

It's about time! You'll love the thing...:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

You're such a whore Zaza. Of course I mean that in the best possible way. You shoudl be making money off of this.. why don;t you at least design and sell some official ZazaSlider Decals that we can all affix to our individual sliders?

Is there a little piece I can buy somewhere that will screw into the threaded HOLE I made in the middle of my track, [where I screw in my tripod head] that will make it so I am screwing into some sort of an adapter piece and NOT the threaded track itself? seems after 50 or so installs and removals the threads will be dead?
Thanks

I've had mine on & off countless times over the past 2 years... no problem. If you're worried about it, drill a new hole just to the side of the middle hole and tap it... it will be many more threads.

...or, order a new piece of rail without the holes pre-drilled.

...or, purchase a quick release system, mount the plate on the bottom of the rail and the bracket on the tripod.

Lots of options!

Aren't people using quick release systems on their tripods?

Funny you should mention.... I have some things coming down the pipe that I hope people will like and will make the sliders you've all built more useful and flexible. The mods I'll be making available will work on ANY slider that uses the igus product!

So stickers then?

Just set mine up. It took longer to drive to home depot. The only problem I am having is that the bolt sticks out too far at the bottom and hits the screw coming up from the tripod. I compensated for this by adding washers. AND the only way I can get a smooth slide is if I actually keep the 4 allen screws loose. I tried to loosen them a bit and tighten them back down and let them self align but as soon as it slides it starts binding up. But when I keep them loose it slides just fine. any ideas.

Try this:
This is OFFICIAL igus procedure for "aligning" the carriage.
It only needs to be done once.

They say

1. Loosen all carriage bolts - (don't remove - just loosen a few turns)
2. slide carriage back and forth to allow bearings to align themselves)
3. (tech actually recommended "tapping" the center of the carriage to "bump" the bearings into place)
4. With downward pressure on carriage tighten the bolts again a few turns at a time (alternating them - i.e. do NOT crank one down and then do the other ones)

Should work. Once aligned, gently tighten them like you would a tire's lug nuts...opposite on the angle. They don't have to be really tight, just tight enough to stay in place.

I adjusted mine once, 2 years ago, have had it on & off countless times...and it still slides smooth as silk.

Let me know how you make out.

my end solution

my end solution

here's a little tip for those who do not tinker too much.
In browsing other forum I am inspired by the famous zazaslider.
I just changed the lock fittings on each side.
4 diameter hole drilled 5, insert pads and tips like the pictures
