Dissonance - a j.r. hudson reel

Thanks again Ted

I am really into Sound Design; I love layering my scenes with ambience, foley, etc

When he walks into the hospital room, you can brealy just hear a Muslim Chant (Turkish in fact) over the sirens and hospital equiptment and Edgen music.

No reason other than to create an Audio sensation
Well, it really shows. I was very impressed with the sound design. I look forward to becoming a more experienced filmmaker so that I learn to leave enough time before deadlines to address this issue.

Like I said before, I take all blame, and give John all credit. The one shot people are complaining about, the water tower falling thing, was probably the one shot John wasn't camera operator on!

Sorry I blew it for you, JH! :)

Ok, all this talk of sound design, I have to jump in...

Maybe it's just me but the sound in the film I watched was really bad... the dialogue and sound effects were muffled, etc. Did not like the sound here much at all... is it just me?

To Barry and John,

I take it you guys are outta Wilmington? Just curious, is there a pretty big crowd of you "fellers" down there?

There's a tad of a Mod Squad, me and John H. and David Jimerson. And Jeremy Ordan's not too far away, over in Charlotte.

I don't really know anyone else down here though.

Should have known! Thanks for coming forth! :) (Beautiful shot, however!)

I've DL'd it several times, listened on heaphones, and two different sound systems and it's always the same... weird.

Yeah that is weird.

There are few minor moments in the opening dialogue I have reservations about, but overall, I think the layed sound ehances the piece.

I edit with headphones and it sounds great on this end.

I thought the shot looked good, but the problem was that it was the wrong shot! Didn't do what John needed.

The problem was, that was practically (if not literally) the last shot of the day, and the sun was *gone*. No time, no bounce, no fill, no time to think about it, no time to stage it, it was literally "okay, the camera's in place, GO!"

That's cool. I'm north a bit just up past Jacksonville.

I haven't had a chance to view any of the entries yet but i'll be sure to check yours out. If you want I can close my eyes on that watertower shot:)

just saw it john. great job. very beautiful film. well written, shot, and acted. i actually kind of enjoyed the darkened shot of the park at the end... it just fit IMO. I thoroughly enjoyed the film very much.

haha... yes, we had a few of those ourselves! I wish I could say that we pulled it off, however.

As far as the sound, I listened with headphones as well. No problems.

Ditto. I had on headphones and didn't have a single issue with the sound. Maybe some muffled dialogue in the hospital. otherwise, it sounded fine.

Tks Kholi for the info !

The end park shot still is wonderful Barry. I mean, it really is pretty.

And of course the silent wind just creates a nice vibe ! (Courtesy of the FREESOUND PROJECT)

I've visited Charlotte. I lived in Nashville for awhile, beautiful country over there. :)
