Digitizing HD footage

I am having a problem with may A-1. I can get dv footage out easy, but I can not get HD footage out. Any ideas or suggestions, I have FCP HD, please help...

do you have downconvert set to ON in-camera when you capture? if so, turn it off, and you'll be able to capture HD....if it's software, you're barkin up the wrong tree hahaha
