I'm fairly new to dvxuser and don't know anything about Digital Dan but I am in the middle of resolving an issue with authorities and UPS involving a fake cashier's check that was given for a secure shipping COD done through UPS. I'm posting my story if anyone is interested in reading about it.
 
nice... as I've said before, if you guys want to set up a sting and nail his ass, I can handle the beatdown around Dec/Jan when I can get the cash together to fly down to Florida. Anybody wanna come along and film it? We could make a killer doc on our DVXs :beer:

Well, I purchased a tripod from Digital Dan several weeks ago (O'Connor 50D). It apparently got misaddressed and returned or something, but he sent me a UPS tracking number a couple days ago and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Ship through the old fashion US Mail. First off, their rates are cheaper to ship, secondly, insurance is MUCH cheaper, and finaly, they have a little division of FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT called Postal Inspectors. Think of them as Post Office Cops. They have a 98% conviction rate, and take mail fraud VERY SERIOUSLY! If anyone has shipped to digitial dan/digital dan/lifewriter thru the US MAIL, contact your local US Post Office.
If the buyer won't take a US Mail delivery, DON'T SELL TO THEM! This is THE most glaring item that they are SCAMMERS. Scammers know about the US Postal Inspectors, so they won't have antyhing to do with it. If they refuse the US MAil, refuse to sell it.
 
Hey all - Found some more info on “Digital Dan” aka “lifewriter” aka “Mike Daley”. Seems to go by faze6 so I googled it, and look what I found! A review by “Bess Daley” on amazon.com (Wife? Girlfriend?):

The next link from the faze6 google search lead to a very graphic fantasy rape website. Very graphic, pretty disgusting but what was interesting is that the male character names include Dan and Mike…. Hmmmmm….. (ie Digital Dan & Mike Daley)

From the post on this forum I did a google search on the phone numbers…. (727) 743-2319 links to a Florida wedding Videographer site. Looks like he does business as “General Media” in St. Petersburg, FL. Address is 6554 3rd Ave S. St. Petersburg, FL 33707 Take a look for yourself here:

I sure did. I was kind of waiting to post about it though, because unfortunately the darn box was torn open when it arrived and the tripod handle was missing. I'm quite happy with the tripod... it's pretty nice, but of course it's nearly another $100 to replace the handle with a used one. Digital Dan said he was going to find me a replacement, so I was kind of waiting for that to happen before I posted. Heck, I'm just happy I got the tripod.

I did get paid from digital dan, about 3 months after i sent him a DV1000 vtr.

After numerous emails i finally got the payment. I cashed the MO and everything was cool. But i seriously doubted the legitamacy of the MO all the way to the bank. Especially after i heard from other people that he sent fake MO's.
 
I believe when you put insurance or signature tag then digital ass will send it to you but when he sees that you didn't he will stab your back with his digital knife
