What sort of dollars did you pay for it Matt? (if that's not too rude to ask). I don't see many used 17-50's out there, just lots of 18-50's.

Does the 17-50 hold-sustain the focus while zooming vs the 18-50mm. ?
Just ordered this lens...seems like a decent deal. Question...does anyone here happen to know the front diameter of this lens or if there is an intregal lenshade on it that comes off?

114mm is the diameter to mate with a mattebox., which is a standard size and most modern matteboxes have bellows or clamp rings that go to this size. The shade does not come off. You can buy 72mm polas or NDs to screw on the front element.
