Magic Bullet needed for HPX170 footage?

I have the SD version of Magic Bullet and was wondering if it was necessary to upgrade to the HD version with my HPX170.

I'm guessing that the picture quality of the HPX170 would be far superior so that I would only need to do minor tweaking in After Effects without using Magic Bullet.

What do you guys do?

I don't see how a plugin can tell the difference in what format and frame size you are working with. It should all work the same regardless.

Oh, cause in the Magic Bullet website, there are SD and HD versions. I guess if I really didn't want to get the HD version, I could just downsize the footage to SD dimensions.

But I'm still curious, how do most of you do your color correcting? After Effects?

I use Magic Bullet Colorista in After Effects for primary and secondary CC/grading and also use MB Looks for overall color styling at times. Unless they've changed their product line (which I'm almost 100% positive they didn't), there's only one version for Colorista and Looks and they both work on SD and HD material.

I looked up their website, it looks like they have a totally new version. I have Magic Bullet SD 1.1 back from 2004.
