C100: Did anyone just see the 2 New Blackmagic cameras.

Nice! I'll get one in 2016 when they actually ship... but by then there will be 15 other cameras from other manufactures, and BM will have announced 2 more anyway.
I'll stick with my C100 as well.

This saying comes to mind... the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Blackmagic has made it pretty clear that they are in the camera cash grab business and in no way are committed to their products. Say what you will about Canon, but their gear straight up works. And if someone is paying me to do a job for them, at the very least I need something totally functional.

I actually think this announcement from them is pretty bad form. But I do like a lot of their post gear.

I was just talking to my friend that it seems BMD is a big bubble that will burst eventually, they are doing so much so soon I wonder where all the profit is coming and if they are just riding on nothing but their hype.

Well regardless of should you decide to jump on these or not.....you got to hand it to Blackmagic for the new features and future upgrade ability on these cameras.
They do not seem to have held anything back unlike Canon with the C100.
I hope they sell a bucketload on that fact alone.

I have my heart set on th next C100....I want to go smaller than m EX3 which I am selling....otherwise I'd buy 2 of these based on good reviews.

The has now put it up to Canon....be it this year or next for the next range of Cinema Cameras...

You should only hand it to them if these things are real and functional. Which is extremely unlikely. Not to mention they probably won't ship til next year.

Also the last camera had so many image issues and it seems like this uses the same sensor. So...

It's crazy to me how fast people forget reality.

Yeah BM is notorious for QC issues. Not sure I'd be confident shooting a well paying gig with a camera that isn't reliable (white pixels on the BMPC).

They seem to be covering up their old issues with new cameras.

You got to play the game here......it's NAB 2014......Hypefest.....if we are all hyped up for new features on Cameras like these then it means we might....MIGHT actually buy them.....this in turn worries Canon.....they upgrade features on their next Cameras to try and dissuade us from doing that and staying with them....

....As in life Companies like Canon are always about the next thing they can sell us....Me....I want them to sell me something with as many of the features I need....

....so officially on a public Canon Board I am saying these fictional Black Magic Cameras for release in 2024 are a game changer....

I love my c100 but it is heartbreaking to see other companies at least strive to move forward and canon is so lax with charging 5-6k for a 8bit 1080p camera. Regardless of the release date, i'd take a chance on buying one in addition to keeping my c100. If canon gives us 4k on the c100 it may very well be done about the same time these things starts shipping. As consumers we have the right to flex our muscles. Lets just hope canon plays along.

Canon has been around for 77 years, they are in it for longevity and won't just out out equipment to put out equipment.

Cameras are a side-business for BMD.

The difference is that when the next version of the Canon C100 ships it will work as advertised. It may not have every feature you want, but the features it does have will just work.
I really hope that BM got this one right and it too just works straight out of the box. All of the companies need some good competition to keep them innovating, but it doesn't do us any good if they just pump out specs that don't work in real life usage.

Seems like a camera that only makes sense if you're running with a fairly large crew with very strong lighting. This is the complete opposite to the C100.

Even focusing would be difficult as a solo operator!
