FEATURE: DEUCE OF SPADES - How I made a period full feature film all by myself on ZERO budget

I got a sneak peek at the first 5 minutes, and that did it. Just ordered my copy. Even paid the extra five bucks for the signed version : ) Faith certainly deserves every penny of it...

I have to say that what I saw looked *really* good, especially considering it was shot on an HVX200/Letus/Marshall setup (just like mine!). Nice clear image, excellent control of DOF, very well and effectively lit, decent acting, intriguing story tease (it made me really want to see the rest, which is all one could hope for) and a *killer* location right in the first scene. Even the opening titles were beautifully done, with some very cool visual effects that actually looked...expensive : )

Wow...

If the rest of it's anywhere near as good, this is going to be one fun...um...ride : )

I'll report back again after I've seen the whole thing. Can't wait : )

Got the DVD (thanks Faith!) and watched it last night. Here's my preliminary one-word mini-review, plus relevant punctuation and smileage:

WOW!!!!

More later...

Just finished a second viewing last night. The film does very well in that regard IMO, and held my attention easily for the duration - which is not something I can say about many much larger-budget, conventionally produced features, even the first time around. I'll save the rest for later.

In the meantime, for a sort of a 'historical reference' if you will, I've (re)rented an older film that this reminds me of in many, many ways: in terms of how it came about (but not its content, which is entirely different), and in its astoundingly high quality under the circumstances. I'll look at it again over the next couple of days, and will be drawing some parallels to it in my comments on 'DOS' later.

A free  to the first person who guesses the title of that film...

Shouldn't be too hard... : )

There's a lot of 'low budget' films out there!! Can you give a decade or two for the film?
